Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Chargers

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

DaB look athe fact that he is a ROOKIE!!!! and look at the other rookies in this league? Your QB WINS on the road against a quality opponenet he merits at least a B-...unless he throws a ton of picks...a rookie????? a rookie WINS and THAT is no lower than a B. Period. Now I had the Pats, at best, a 5-12 team before the first snap of the season. I updated my view to 7-10, 8-9...and THAT being completely satisfied with Mac Jones play!!~!! You friggin' guys are putting your Tom Brady template on a ROOKIE QB and then downplaying the POINT to football ...WINNING THE GODDAMNED GAME. If Brady was our QB today I'd give his performance a C or C minus....but a green rookie??? Mac did what was THE most important thing in any game...he WON. No way anyone should rate him below a B.

Sit back and let the future of our franchise sink in...this kid is IT and he's only going to get better. He's NOT average.
Joker - I love you man, but they didn't win the game because of Mac. They won it despite him. And that's why he get's a C even as a rookie. He'd have been a D or an F if he'd had an interception or a fumble.

You have no f'in clue what other people's expectations are. You are flat out throwing s**t at the wall to see what sticks. I, for one, am NOT putting ANY template on him. Good luck finding ANY of my posts that support that ridiculous idea of yours.

Even someone with IT can have an average game. I would think that someone of YOUR experience would understand that.

The challenge was valid. It's where the QB is located when the hold occurs. Not where there hold occurs. If you're going to comment, make sure you understand the rule you're commenting on. While Ian Eagle is a crappy announcer, he at least stated what the rule was before they went to commercial and didn't show a replay.
The previous poster didn't know the rule, but Ian Eagle did a bad job too because he left out the part about where the QB until later. I can see why someone didn't understand it if they were listening to Eagle.

I
I also noticed updates on that game in the game day thread.
I don’t follow the game day thread, way too much drama and idiotic quick takes. However it is the same thing, have a gdt for the Bucs if you want, just keep the non patriots stuff out of the patriots threads.

You know, we don't really know how limited he was all the back to training camp. It was clear he was holding out for more money and more years on his deal. Against Dak, JC Jackson on one side and Stephon Gilmore on the other would have been better than what we saw. Note: Prescott is out for tonight's game against the Vikings.
What we know is that Gilmore was going to the PUP to start the year. That was a foregone conclusion at the start of camp. People can speculate all they want about whether or not it was a contract dispute, but he wasn't healthy.

Yeah. But he wasn't healthy. And it's not like he lit up the Panthers game. If he played more than sparingly, he'd at least have had a tackle.

He was healthy dude. It was a hold in. If you want to say he wasn’t worth the 6ish million dollar bump he wanted that’s fine just let’s be real here.

I disagree. Mac had a so so game but came up big when he needed to. He is a rookie playing a big game on the road.

As a Pats and Brady fan you better believe I’m happier with Mac’s game today despite Brady having the better stat line by every single measurable. This isn’t that hard to understand.

He did have a subpar game. But was 4/4 on the last drive. That is encouraging

What exactly is the rule about holding in the end zone and a safety? I can’t find it in the NFL rulebook. This is all it says:
————-

SECTION 5 - SAFETY

ARTICLE 1. SAFETY

It is a Safety:

  1. if the offense commits a foul in its own end zone or;
  2. when an impetus by a team sends the ball behind its own goal line, and the ball is dead in the end zone in its possession or the ball is out of bounds behind the goal line.
———-
The holding that they called didn’t happen in the end zone unless you are talking about the hold from start to finish but that isn’t how holding is flagged. Was BB just gambling that the flag was for holding in the end zone?

the GDT was a real sewer of kneejerk idiocy today...good Lord what an awful experience
That makes me glad i wasn't on it to witness it

Won a close one against a good opponent. Very much like the majority of games not against the Jets, except this time we won.

Stay in that habit and we're good to go. Give me one more and I'm calling a turning point.

The Pats were lucky 5hey didn’t need to challenge anything in the last 7 ,
minutes because they were out of TO, so they couldn’t challeng.

I wouldn’t blame BB for that challenge, I’m sure that is someone upstairs job. whoever that is should be sacked.

Rob, not sure how your coming up with Herbert being overrated. He’s pretty darn good for only being in his second year. Peyton Manning had a hard time with Belichick defenses early on in his career before he started catching on. And no I’m not calling Herbert a Manning but he has had some real success in this league early on. Patriots have his number no question and you can’t name another team that does.

Totally agree about being buyers at the deadline. Would not mind seeing them making one last reunion with Amendola or someone comparable as a security blanket type. I’d also look at a speedy lb like Kevin Pierre-Louis from Houston via a 7th round pick.
Funny, I was also thinking about how great Peyton was and how great BB was at fooling him through most of his career, especially early on. Analogous to Herbert so far.

He milked it because he wasn’t getting an extension. He used “recovering from injury” as a loophole to hold out. You have to be pretty naive to think otherwise. Schefter also said when he got traded he believed Gilmore could’ve played had he got paid.

That's exactly it. I think the hold happened about half a step before Herbert reached the endzone. It was close enough. Not a bad challenge imo
