Is Steve Belichick part of the problem on defense?

His play may be average right now.

But I think there are more than enough signs that show he's probably going to be a top 10 QB (In 2023 at the very latest imo).

You can see it. But it's going to take time.
yeah I stopped ever guessing those things. Patriots fans think every Qb that gets drafted here will be Brady, so its best to just, say, well...we will see. Its no lie either. JG....going to be great, Stidham, he will be the guy. Hell I remember when cassel was the next Brady. Nobody knows anything about anything until it happens. Right now, today, he is what he is. For all I know he gets the yips when he sees yellow.

.with the right QB.

And here we come to the crux of it. I like the goat too. So why don't you admit the goat QB carried this fraud oc. this fraud oc has been terrible in 4 different seasons without Brady.

.

Ok. That's fair. But to be fair if we're talking about a rookie QB against all the NFL QBs including all these top draft picks, and Mac Jones with a bad OLine and 2-4 is in this conversation, this is a HUGE win !! A top 10-20 NFL QB in his 6th NFL game with a crappy OLine, mediocre oc, and a 2-4 team, this is a major major hit and major win on a draft pick. Let's put this in perspective. This is as great as a team realizing Burrow or Herbert can play.

.
I agree the team that is currently around Mac is less than ideal and I think we need to find a legitimate number one receiver and shore up the offensive line next year. We get him better protection and a real playmaking outside receiver I think that will accelerate his development and push Agholor and Bourne down to a more realistic place on the depth chart. Obviously this is all easier said than done but I am happy to see the potential Mac has but Bill really needs to nail this next draft class.

That would be quite funny, given Bob handed his son a job.
Why would it be funny? Given that Kraft isn't going to try to make Belichick angry.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Belichick retires. Kraft will not be beholden to anyone at that point.

Oh? 2008 he was excellent calling plays. 2019 we had NO ONE to catch passes. In 2020, we had no QB. This year, we're doing relatively well for what we have. By the end of the season, we'll be even better.

What a ridiculous post.

All we really need is for Mac to grow more and to recognize defenses, to process his reads faster--though I agree about a #1recevier. We're fine with Bourne and Meyers as #2s.

Nah let's catalog this. A team that went 18-1, next season missing the playoffs not that impressive. Next what ? 2H 2 2019 sucked. 2020 sucked. You already have super teachable Mac arguing with mcIdiot on the sidelines in 2021. Let's not forget the crappy Denver'10 and St Louis'11 teams. McD rode Brady's coat tails and is flat out exposed now.

LOL!!! We lost Brady! We went 11-5 with Matt freakin' Cassell. Winning 11 games with a scrub awful QB is impressive, and that offense scored a lot of points. It was impressive.

Blame McDaniels for Cam Newton all you want, but most people would think a person expecting more than 7 wins with Cam Newton is just bonkers.

You say the Krafts are talking about whether Steve should cut his teeth elsewhere, but don't see how Jonathon was given a job by his Dad. This is not a conversation Jonathan should be a part of.

When Bill leaves, I hope the Krafts clean house and start over.

Bill is indeed to be blamed for Brady's leaving.

Ok, but if Brady retires by 45 (as he's hinted at numerous times), don't you think it's better to move on with his successor? If he plays until 50 and he does so at an elite level, I see your point.

We need less free rushers killing him as well. I was shocked they didn't at least check him for a concussion after that hit yesterday. He lost the ball and didn't see to have any idea as he was on his hands and knees looking at the ground. He can't keep taking hits like this or we will be finishing out the year with Brian Hoyer.

I don't want the next guy having Bill looming over him. I don't want Josh or Patrica to keep doing things Bill's way because we have seen a dozen coaches leave and do things Bill's way and fail miserably. I hope when Bill retires it is a clean break and there is no sort of advisor/front office role and we bring in a whole new coaching staff GM etc.

Probably...but overall this defense is quite bad
Judon Barmore Uche and Jackson excluded...

The reality is that posters like him and 203 want to blame Bill for letting Tommy Brady go...and so they are picking on Mac by calling him "average."
Bill is indeed to be blamed for Brady's leaving.
We're getting conflicting reports. First we hear Tom strongly considered leaving after Billy's latest blunder against the Eagles in 2017. Then we hear Brady wanted to re-sign prior to the 2019 season, but Bill was dancing around extending him. Now we're hearing that Bill had a trade lined up for shipping out Tom which I think it was to the 49ers, but Kraft blocked it and Jimmy went instead.

However, Kraft doesn't step in and give Tom his contract demands after all he's done for this Franchise? I blame Bob the most as Tom should've gotten the Kobe treatment with the Lakers whether Bill liked it or not.

In the end, as I've said many times, Bill or Bob letting Tom go was a blessing in disguise.

Matt Cassel won 10 games with a mediocre chiefs team and made the playoffs. Winning the same amount of games with a team that went 16-0 is really not that amazing.

We also missed the playoffs when Matt Cassell was starting. From 2003-2018, we won the AFC East every year except the 1 season Brady didn't start.

I just have a very minor 3 letter correction (just my opinion) to replace out the word 'bill' with 'mdD'. Agree completely after that.

Brady would have stayed if Belichick didn't have epic failures in the draft room 2016-2020, and make some terrible trades (Sanu for a 2nd)
