This.

People are calling for JMD to loosen the collar on Mac. I don't think they should do that at all.

Mac has turned the ball over 9 times in 6 games.

Hes on a pace to throw the ball 600 times this year and complete 425 of them which would be a franchise record (More than Drew or Tom).

I really don't want to see a 1994 Drew Bledsoe season where he turns it over 36 times.
To me it is not the number of pass attempts but the game plan changing from quarter 1 when Jones was throwing dimes on seam routes. You can move the ball down field without throwing Hail Marys. How about some roll outs like we saw Dak doing all game? Our Oline was hurt, the best thing you can do is move the QB to help the Oline and buy time.

Does Jones strike you as a QB that can't make those type of plays? His pick was on a really tough short slant play. I hate those. Those are always high risk pick plays IMO.

Slants are great if you are accurate. If not, well they get picked.

They may not trust him making those plays. I have no idea.

There is a difference between having a high comp % and being accurate.

Maybe they don't completely trust his accuracy and based on 6 picks in 6 games and the horrible throw to Bourne yesterday I don't blame them. That throw should have been low and leading him - not high and behind him.

This is the play I was talking about yesterday. We know Harry ****ed it up but the most important thing is what Mac did here- yelling at Harry to get off the line, and then get into motion, snap the ball before the play clock runs out and throw away the ball for two reasons: avoid a DOG penalty and avoid TFL. If that's not a superb grasp of the offense and of the game, I don't know what is. This is something we'd see from a QB with a few years under his belt, but never a rookie. This is just mind-blowing to me.

I think I have now finally given up on N'Keal....

Now let's hope that he makes me eat my words (and I will do it literally).

Yeah. He has been throwing more interceptable balls lately. I just feel like the offense is so stagnant in terms of the pass game. We have a pretty versatile group of receivers and it feels like we are just not using them well.

As others has said, it isn't the number of throws. It is the type of plays. They need to let him open it up more.

And if this season is over, which it could be in a few weeks, I don't care how many times Jones turns it over as long as he learns from it. The Colts didn't care how many times Manning turned it over in his rookie year (and he set the record) because they knew him airing out the ball helped him develop. The Jags are taking a similar approach with Lawrence.

And some of the turnovers might not happen if they let Jones open up the offense more. If opposing offenses know the Pats aren't going to throw more than ten yards on every passing down, it makes covering easier and allows teams to spend extra rushers. An open passing game will take some of the pass rush away against the Jones.

Also, for all the rookie QBs who have thrown more than 100 times, he has the fewest INTs. He has the highest completion percentage.

I think people are missing the context of his 21 passing attempts.

The Patriots had four scoring drives.

3 plays
4 plays
15 plays
1 play

So, it's kind of flukey that their time of possession was so low, not allowing them to have many plays in the first place. They had 25 runs and 23 dropbacks. That's still a pretty heavy run ratio, but a heavy run game worked on all three scoring drives (besides the 75 yard bomb because it was only one play.).

Look at Mac's total attemps and yards/attempt....by establishing the run game and having him throw for bigger gains, they were able to maximize his impact.

If you want to blame the coaching staff, blame the moronic, indefensible decision of throwing a possession into the garbage can because the coach ran out of plays or felt like getting in his halftime nap or something. Bill shouldn't be in charge of analytics-based punt/field goal/clock decisions any more because of the major disadvantage to the team for 1988 conservative calls.

I can't imagine the insane reasoning behind getting the ball back with 1:30 at the 20-yard line and running out the clock. Just wondering if anyone thinks, if the score had been tied at 29 with 1:30 left in regulation, if they should kneel on the ball in fear of giving the ball back or making a critical mistake? Because if you think that would be stupid, then you can acknowledge that doing it before halftime is also stupid for the exact same reason.

The problem is when they didn't score, they were going three and out a lot. Except for the kneel downs at the end of each half, the Pats had nine possessions and not one of them was more than five plays. They had four 3 and outs and the two turnovers were both four plays or less. They had only one drive all game (during the regulation) where they had the ball for more than three minutes of game clock.

Posting this for absolutely zero reason

Maybe Joe Thuney did not want to play for the patriots...! I would go so far as to say that is likely. In his situation wouldn't you prefer to play for the Mahomes chiefs???

Well I imagine the jump in pay had a bit to do with that.

According to McCourty they planned on taking away his 1st two progressions and didn't have enough personnel to cover that play because he had too much time in the pocket. Sounds baffling they were playing to cover shorter passes. Nvm the fact Mills was trailing CeeDee badly.

I have rewatched the all22 on this over and over. It's weird, not sure what Philips was doing, he wasn't covering a guy and then didn't go after Dak at the LOS. It was just the worst possible throw against this defense while Mills was off by 15 yards.

Why didn't you give up before when

A. The GOAT QB shunned him a week into training camp and went out of his way never to compliment him.
B. NFL CB's stuck to him like white on rice
C. He moved slower than a snail on the beach
D. He asked to be traded, his agent's pathetic letter
E. Fumbling, Lining up the wrong way every game
F. Softer than grape jelly on contested catches

Harry is the worst first round drafted WR I have ever seen. My only explanation for him still being on the team is he stole the pictures from Jake Bequette's locker.

Didn't the board's cult hero, Evan Lazar, pump this guy up for a third time? Lol...
