Darrelle Revis/Chad Johnson discuss their time in NE/Tom vs Bill

ty law is the greatest but remember he was parcélls boy, and he had an ugly ending with BB shipping him out of town the moment he started to slip.
Better to let a player go too early than too late. ;)

I didn't laugh at all. The guy isn't Sam Kinison. He's a football coach.
Tuna Crap played the media like a fine violin. That and BB the DC kept him in the spotlight. Tuna's way overrated as a HC.

Yes, but it was only about money, and he has returned to the fold.

No serious question. We all laughed at bills press conferences over the years. Do we still laugh now that we arent contenders anymore?
Giving up the already. Is that giving up for this year or forever? I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!

players were willing to put up with this style of coaching when he was winning, but he doesn’t win anymore and honestly when is the next time we will win? (as in win our División).
Thats the thing, the "patriot way" and things like that only sound good when you win. When you stop winning then its just a ****ty place to play.

How soon he forgets

I also remember him being, or nearly being in tears, while hugging family.
He never really cared about winning as most players don’t. They are looking to get as much money as they can. Him signing with the Pats was purely a business decision as he used the Pats to get back in the spotlight and prove he was still a top CB. I don’t really fault him for that.

It is quite interesting that one of the top DB’s of all time, didn't really care for Bill. And from Revis and Jonson’s time with the Pats both agree that they saw Tom as the reason for their success.

Just to make sure I'm following this correctly ...

Revis acknowledges that the cover-2 zone scheme employed during his time in Tampa Bay wasn't a good fit for his skillset; he comes to New England and sees an immediate increase in his productivity and return to form in a defense that plays more man coverage and single-high safety ... and his verdict is that coaches don't deserve much credit for the successes of their teams/players?

Interesting conclusion to come to.
Yes. Because a cornerback is only as good as the quarterback throwing picks to him in practice or something.

We'll be good again faster than other teams who dominated. We're rebuilding. What do you expect after 20 years? If you look at the roster, the team has a few oldies, but also a lot of people in the middle of their careers.

Next year Mac Jones will have 17 games as a starter under his belt, a full complement at OL, 2 TEs, 3 good WRs with hopefully another stud added, bunch of RBs, and a whole lot of decent young guys on D. We're lacking another CB but this team is really coming together. Give it time.

Well the thing is, the pats have rebuilt a few times over the years, this is not the first time they rebuilt. They just had winning records when they did it.

This is a rebuild though, not a reload. You can see a massive change like we haven't had before. We've got Hightower and McCourty now on D of the old guard. Back then it was Wilfork and Ninkovich. On offense in '10, it was Brady, the almost the entire offensive line (Koppen, Light, Neal, and Mankins), plus Wes Welker. But we did bring in a lot of talent like Gronk, Hernandez, Mayo, McCourty, Chung, and Vollmer. Those are 6 fantastic pickups. So our future is going to determined by the progress of Mac Jones, Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Uche, J. Meyers, Dugger, JC Jackson, Wynn and Onwenu. These are the equivalents of the players I just mentioned.

I just hate to hear "rebuild" when we spent so much in free agency and have a rookie QB.

I listened to what they said. I'm not surprised players are supporting players over coaches. They made good points - no matter how brilliant the coaches game plans and ideas are, the players are the ones who execute them on the field.

At the very least, Revis gives credit to Belichick for creating a pressure cooker environment that produced all the success the Pats experienced, although he wasn't a big fan of it.

Not everyone is built to handle that type of environment.

Welcome to the NFL free agency era.
We were 7-9 last year with dead cap, I hate the fact that we spent so much and got improved QB play and may end up having the same number of ones at best (imo).

Revis says he did not enjoy his time in NE which is interesting. Blames the “tension” and the “grind” with being a Patriot under BB. Credits Bill for the longevity and success but he says “you see there are also other philosophies and ways to win and it doesn’t have to be that (the Patriots) way”. ”When you deal with the things up there (NE) it’s a little bit strenuous. Nobody likes it in the locker room. But the sell that for winning games up there it’s what they do”.

Being a Patriot is not for everyone. He got his ring here as a mercenary and that’s that.

Also called out spygate and deflategate and says you can call that cheating. Whatever.

“you see there are also other philosophies and ways to win and it doesn’t have to be that (the Patriots) way”

Where are they, then?
