Kicking the 56 yard FG vs going for it on 4th and 3

This will be fodder for the inane sportstalk radio today and this week. To think if the kick was about 8" to the left there would be no discussion. Then will come the equally stupid commentary has BB lost it and is unable to make decisions or other such nonsense.

This was the right call...

At the time I thought a 56 yarder was too far for Folk, especially in the rain. After more thought, I think it was the right call, he had the distance, inches away. Pats were 2-8 on 3rd down and OL is horrible.

Here you go. Even NextGen says it was the wrong decision to kick. And not by a little bit.

Bingo

Belichick once took an intentional safety in 03 on the road on a Monday night to win a football game

he once went for it on 4th and 2 on own 28 to win a football game in 09 vs Indianapolis

what happened to the Belichick who took risks to win?

These kind of metrics don’t mean much imo. For example- FG probability for who? Folk doesn’t have the range. Should have gone for it.
He had the range. The ball didn't land short in the end zone. It just wasn't accurate.

Boo boo how dare u change your mind

For real tho, how can you know that this kick wasnt his best? In 10 tries, how many can he make, on that weather?

I dont thin Ill wrap my head around this one

Even if he makes it brady marches down field for an easy field goal!

wrong decision. We shouldn’t be “proud” of a 1-3 team. A lot of work to be done, right now in serious danger of missing playoffs

No, it still would have been a poor decision. Folk would have simply bailed him out with a great kick.

luckily I have town sewer and don't know the answer to that...

You don't know how to answer most things but you'd better do something because it's backing up into your posts again. Two years ago you made a hobby out of bashing Brady, now you're on to bashing BB. Last season you became a Bills fan -- just go that route and be done with this place, you are pathetic.

I don't think many people would be questioning him if he went for it on 4th considering Folk never had a big leg, was nursing in injury. Add bad weather to the mix and there was no chance whatsoever Folk was going to make that.

Even if by some miracle he did convert it does anybody truly believe this defense could have kept Tampa out of field goal range?

Just a horrible call by belichick and make or miss nothing good was going to come out of it anyways.

I don't love the call, I think I would have given Mac a shot and burned more clock to get inside a 50 yarder. 58 is a boot and a half. Let the Kid win it.

It’s the right call logically. You are either going to make the field goal or miss the field goal. You are either going to convert the first down or not. The difference is that one gives you the lead with less than a minute left and the other could easily be nullified by a holding call. Failing both were an automatic loss and succeeding in one did guarantee your opponent needed to at least answer with a score. I think you need to give Folk the chance

I didn't like the call. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Bucs had two timeouts and would have gotten the ball back with about 50ish seconds even if we made the kick. Very strong chance we don't win the game in that scenario unless Succop misses again.

I really want to tag a couple people from last night but I'm not going to.

Pats were 2-9 converting 3rd downs. Chances for Folk to make that field goal was at least 30%

I've reviewed all the stats/metrics etc.....As I was watching the game with my family last night though, I was screaming "go for it"....In the moment, I would have gone for it....Can I understand why Bill went for the FG, yes, but for Ashley, I would have let Mac try and win the game.

ESPN said we had a better chance winning going for the FG, I've seen different stats saying different things since, but my dad was arguing with me saying Folk is clutch and with our O-line, leave it to Folk....debatable......I can't blame anyone for arguing their point.....I am really looking forward to the rest of the year...I think we have a bright future

That's a huge stat, something I wasn't aware of until this morning...makes a big difference.

Im sorry, but It doesnt.

First, because every 3rd down is an independent event from another. Let alone, every one of them with their unique circumstances.

Second, is a big difference when you are going through the normal motions, and when you are going for a victory, 4 down territory.
