NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION NFL week 3 games thread

Again, there are going to be games where the Bucs are going to need their running backs to run for 150 yards or more to win. I am not sure they can right now. They haven't shown they can at this point. Their team average per carry is crap too.

They could fix their running problems, but to say it isn't a concern is stupid when they aren't able to run the ball at all in any game this season.
I'm confused about your insisting on this issue. The Pats tried to run and couldn't. They fell behind so started flinging the ball. Bucs did the same. They were more successful passing than running so why not continue. Are you saying they should've continued to run it just to have stats to show they aren't last in the league even though it wasn't working?

Yes, but passing teams still need a running game. It doesn't have to be a top ten running game, but it cannot be a historically bad one. There will be games this year the Bucs will need to win by running the ball.

If they are averaging under 3 YPC and 56 yards a game. How are they going to protect a lead and run out the clock late in the game. You don't keep passing when you are up by two scores with five minutes left in the game. You gotta be able to run and pick up a few first downs on the ground. Right now, the Bucs haven't been able to do that.

I hear you, but they have so many weapons on offense it may not matter...they might be the most talented offense on paper ever. Really they just need their running game to close out games in the 4th quarter, not to get a ton of yards.

Then you aren't watching the games. The running games was non-existent. The Bucs had 35 yards today with Tom Brady being the leading rusher with 14 total rushing yards. You call that average?

In week one, they rushed for 52 yards and 2.7 YPC. How was that average.

3.7 ypc in week 1…not 2.7. Maybe get your essential facts right before saying I‘m not watching the games?

Week 2…18/85 yards if you take away kneel downs. 4.7 ypc.

Just as I said…no breakaway runs of over 10 yards, which is a bit of an outlier and brings down the ypc…because it’s a small sample size.

Yes, the sample size is small, but right now their running game is historically bad. It could change over the next few weeks, but until it does, it is a concern.
You’re arguing backwards from your point, which you often do. Historically bad? Exaggerate much? The team was averaging about 4 ypc in weeks 1 & 2. They faced the best statistical defense in the NFL today. Their overall numbers will take a hit from today and even out long-term.

They’ve averaged 34 ppg and needed every point, so they’ve thrown like crazy. The offense has moved the ball as well as any team before today, against an elite defense.

I don't want to list all the teams that I support in various sports that all lost this weekend, but it was brutal sports routing weekend for me, when this happens, the next week is filled with bliss!
Harry, our savior is back!

Wouldn't it be funny if Harry scores the GW touchdown next week after Brady treated him like an outcast?

Those 49ers uniforms are beautiful!

JimmyG is a gagging little gaa gaa goony gack boy....choke choke choke...choke choke choke...choke that booty...choke that booty

He also upset Cam as well.

The Pats ran for 49 yards with Mac being the leading rusher with 28 yards. BTW Pats are a running team. It's supposed to be their strength. I'd be more concerned with a "running " team not being able to execute runs than a '"passing " one.

Yes, and people complained about the Pats’ running game and rightfully so. You cannot win a lot of games without a good running game in certain situations. The Bucs didn’t have a great running game last year, but it was far better than they have now.

It is football 101. Even the best passing teams in history had to rely on their running game from time to time.

Its 3 games into the season. Their issue is not on offense.

Exactly the pats are supposed to be a pound it team, much more concerning that they cannot run at this point.

In total yards yes. It is historically bad. But it is early in the season.

And you are misleading the stars. When a RB runs twenty times a game, A lower YPC is ok because you have a lot of short down situations. When you run 4-6 times, an under 4 ypc is absimal. Hell, under 4 YPC is not good any time.

And I messed up Today was 2.7 YPC.

Jesus lmao

Its 3 games into the season. Their issue is not on offense.

But their running game is. It was today. Part of the reason they only scored 17 points before garbage time was because they were one dimensional.

The Bucs didn’t have a great running game last year, but it was far better than they have now.

Explain why their running game is weaker with the exact same personnel (plus Bernard) and why this isn’t explained by a small sample size.

(to the tune of shake that booty) Gag gag gag....gag gag gag...gaggin' Jimmy...gaggin' Jimmy

Because every year is different. Look at 2005. The Pats had the same exact personnel and they went from having 1635 yards to only going to 733. Yes, he got injured in 2005, but he wasn’t running well before that.

The overreactions here are hilarious

Terrible play on 4th and 1. What did you draft AJ Dillon for?

So…nothing then. Got it.
