OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

All I know is that I want the ball going to Gronk or Brown in situations where they absolutely need a play. It seems Godwin has the Gostkowski yips since the Washington playoff game.
Godwin did make the key catch of the final drive to get them in FG range.

I know it’s just the stat sheet but the two interceptions really piss me off.

Between those, the Godwin fumble, and the Godwin drop, you’re looking at maybe 5 TD/0 INT and over 400 yards.
I like the aggressiveness with the Hail Mary throw. Gronk almost had it. Godwin and Evans were in the area but it seemed like they were in Lala land.

Tom Brady gets his 300th career regular-season start tonight (he picked up his 40th regular season 4th quarter comeback to go along with his 9 in the playoffs) as Bucs open vs. Cowboys. Here's where rest of NFL starters will be after Week 1 (I included their regular season/playoff comebacks):
Roethlisberger 232 35/3
Ryan 206 30/1
Rodgers 191 17/1
Stafford 166 31/0
R. Wilson 145 24/4
Dalton 143 23/0
Tannehill 115 22/0
Carr 111 21/0

Aaron Rodgers only has 17 4QCs in the regular season, 1 behind Joe Flacco and 1 ahead of Cant Newton and most, if not all, are against losing teams. His one playoff 4QC was in the Dallas game when they called a Dez Bryant TD catch incomplete. Captain Comeback my arse.

Just shows how football stats are still in the stone age compared to something like baseball. Brady finished with a 97 passer rating that would have been around 130 if not for two interceptions that weren't his fault. I cringe every single time he checks it down to Fournette.

I'm trying to figure out how the Bucs receivers with their size let someone intercept a hail mary in the first place LOL.
It seemed like Gronk almost had it.

Evan's got pushed out by the looks of it. Godwin was disoriented and spinning in circles.

So it was Gronk vs 5 or so guys.

Gronk is the best TE I've ever seen and I've been watching the game since the 50's. He does everything better than any other TE.

With the caveat that Kelce is a legit offensive force, people who call him a great TE are out of their damn minds.

I predicted 700 yards and 11 TD for Gronk on the basis that he will be preserved for the playoffs, thus lower yardage. But still be used a lot in the red zone so still a high TD total.

It looks like Brate and OJ are still working off the rust from their earlier injuries.
It means more targets for Gronk the next few games. I can see him having a 1000 yards now.

Yup, but he's really gone under the radar for this season.

I was shocked that he wasn't voted in the top 100 for 2021. He was getting better and better as the 2020 season progressed with his peak in the SB and then continuing on to this season.

Gronk moving up the all time regular season TD rankings from 16th to 13th with 88 TD.

Gronk looks like his pre-2018 self. Remember he’s younger than Kelce. His career might be on a second wind.
They are actually same age. Both born in 1989 with Gronk born in May and Kelce in October.

Is he now ahead of Peyton?
He has been since last season if you count the playoffs. Here it is after last night's game;
Tommy LomBrady 40+9=49
PEDton Manning 43+2=45

That "2" sticks out like a sore thumb
Brady has the same amount of playoff 4QCs as PEDton has one and dones. Yeow!

I think Gronk could have an unbelievable season. Just so many weapons around him and Brady trusts him the most. I do think double digit TDs is for sure on the table.

Gronk looks like a great pick for the fantasy football crowd.

He just looks so, so... GOAT-like. It's too bad that he left here on such a sour note.

He has hands like glue, blocks like a steamroller and runs like a Mack truck heading downhill. He's fun too.

He's going to get serious consideration for the Hall.

I'm a Gonzalez fan. But when at their very best, Gronk is the best TE I've ever seen. He was generational.

Both him and Kelce have redefined the position.

Kelce. LOL. Guy can't block worth a dime.

The Bucs secondary didn't play well last night. Just opening night jitters or a legit concern moving forward?

Honestly, it's tough to ever take anything meaningful away from week 1 of an NFL season. Alot of things can be misleading.

It's usually week 5 and onward when we see what teams are really made of.
