Official 2021 Cutdown Day Thread

I am speaking in terms of the worst Patriot WR pick EVER. My personal feeling is Nkeal Harry is hands down my choice.
1st round draft bust that has impacted this team's future. Donte statistically so far to me is a good comparision with Harry.

??????

Stallworth was not a Patriots draft pick. If we are going to count FA signings, we could name more than 20 really quick way worse than Stallworth who was a good role player on an epic offense.

You must be a youngster. I remember a LOT of pretty crappy 1st round picks from the 80's and Dominique Easley was only 2014: New England Patriots All-Time Draft History | Pro-Football-Reference.com

N'Keal Harry isn't anywhere near my top 5 worst 1st round Patriots draft picks. As for worst WR pick, you must be forgetting Chad Jackson.

I think the Pats are comfortable with Hoyer running the scout team and mentoring Mac. If he had to play, yeah there are a n7mber of QBs out there that are waaay better choices. I think. Chicago is waiting for an injury to move Foles, so he might be too expensive.

As crappy as Hoyer is he is a veteran with experience starting and advanced knowledge of this offense. We could do a lot worse at QB2. That is very low on my list of waiver claim needs. I'd be more interested in a developmental QB3 for the PS then replacing Hoyer and giving up draft capital to do it. I guess if someone is cut it's worth looking into but not a big deal.

I think it's hilarious how the negative people around here and in the media can just skip right by how excited we should be about our rookie QB ascending to QB1 to complain about the backup. Felger being the leader of the Cult proclaiming Bill screwed up by not just naming Mac right away so he could sign a real backup instead of Cam.

I think trading for a backup would be a waste of capital. I could see picking up a backup from the waiver wire and signing them to practice squad, like Kyle Lauletta but Hoyer is fine for now.

Biggest priority for me is backup QB.

Hoyer is fine as a QB3 but as THE backup is not good.

God forbid something happens to Mac the season is ovah.

I'd trade for Nick Foles ASAP.
Without question. I know we'll address that position in the next few days though.

I don't know why anyone is talking about another back up other than Hoyer. We all talk about how difficult THIS offense is to master, especially for the QB, right? So why then do you think it would be a good idea that we trade or pick up some QB that is completely unfamiliar with the offense OR the language necessary to communicate, LESS than 2 weeks before the start of the season. Does that make ANY sense at all?

Sure there ARE some guys that I might like better (like Dalton) than Hoyer, but he is what we have. He's a guy who knows the offense, and has had some moderate success winning games in the NFL. Besides Stidham will eventually return and hopefully beat him out for the #2 job. Then if Stridham isn't the answer at #2, then we can upgrade next year.

Hard to figure the Gunner situation. Great PR season last year and he is tough as nails but he has yet to step up and show he can be a reliable slot WR and had a horrible training camp…..he may still be cut if Pats can sign or trade for another really good WR which I feel we still need….as agholor is a huge ? right now…
hate to say it but he is expendable. wanted him to be the next Edelman. he does get open but is to inconsistent with the ball. JJ can do punt returns.

What's Foles' cap hit if traded? We've still got Gilmore to placate.
$4m in 2021. Hes due $4m + $4m roster bonus = $8m cap hit in 2022.

Could be a 1 yr rental for $4m.

A bargain for a quality backup.

I never understand why this forum spends so much time complaining about past draft picks. They are over and done with/
That stuff never crosses my mind. I can't remember half the players people talk about.
