Shank: We shouldn’t have wasted our time wondering. It’s clear who the Patriots will start at quarterback

Do love when Carrot top decides to write about the Patriots to stir shiss up. I’ll say it again. This guy hasn’t been relevant since 2004 before the time of Bostons Glorious run of championships. He made a living off the loveable loser mentality and that is long gone by todays fans. He has no place in Boston media anymore. Which is better than some like Volin or Tomase who never did.

Thought it was about Bledsoe

He should stick to baseball and the Red Sox. He is about as relevant as both.

A lot of people, including myself, have egg on their face being convinced that Newton would start the season as QB1. Even most people who absolutely think Jones was clearly the better QB, again including myself, felt that they would start the season with Newton and eventually move to Jones as soon as a few weeks into the season.

I am not a big fan of Shaughnessy, but he was far from the only person in the media who thought Cam Newton starting was a forgone conclusion.

Believing he’ll start based on the team’s statements and actions (rep distributions) is a lot different from a staunch position that he has played well, deserves to start, and is the better option.

Cam had a good preseason other than the last game. If Jones didn't play so much better, Newton did enough to hold onto his starting job. Newton didn't lose the starting job, Jones took it from him.

Eh. Bill had a chance to put the story to bed in the post game press conference the other night. Instead, he very deliberately said the decision on who would start the opening game hadn't been made. That should have put enough doubt in Shank's mind that he didn't come out with this story on the very day they name Mac the starter. With Shank this was nothing more than another chance to piss on Bill, it had nothing to do with ANYTHING else.

Yes, but he had Newton playing with the ones and didn't play Jones until they pulled most of the ones. That action alone would normally tell you that Newton is the clear starter opening day. Most of what Belichick says in a press conference can be ignored because he is evasive and rarely tells you what he is really thinking.

WHich is why the absolutely automatic obvious 'Cam is our starting QB' after draft day should never, ever have been taken as indicating anything other than sure, Newton is that starter before the new guy has even set foot in the building.

He and someone else have been wrong about every major policy decision foe the last twenty years

Does this guy EVER get anything right?
Dan Shaughnessy: The Japanese would never enter World War II and it's clear they won't attack
