I think Bill stays old school and starts the veteran over the rookie.

I would have gone with option #3 but never saw an actual autopsy report on the victim(s), so don't know if it (they) was (were) a man (men) or not.

Bill is stubborn as a mule. I don't know what he sees in Cam, but Cam will start. Makes no sense, throw Mac out there and let him learn from his mistakes. He's the future. Cam is gone after this year and this team will not be going to the SB no matter who starts, so Mac should be starting Game 1.

Stats like this are completely ridiculous when one is throwing mostly against Devin McCourty and JC Jackson, compared to routinely just beating SloJuan Williams and Bentley over and over. Also love it when media shows their hands, in terms of being biased for Mac, by obsessively counting (inflating, even) how many drops a WR had to then give an 'adjusted' completion score. Just stop it.

I am not so sure that Cam is gone next year. Bill will probably sign him to a an extension and start him again next year since apparently playing the better player is not what matter anymore

Comments:

a.) I have soured a bit on Cam because he isn't vaccinated and that could affect our team down the road, but expect him to start week 1 for the following reasons:

- RPO plays in the playbook haven't been used all summer and should give us an extra edge with the new TE's/powerful OL.

- I am worried about Mac getting hurt. I think he needs to strengthen his legs more to develop a better base and not get hurt sliding (he limped a bit against the Eagles after sliding). And the worst thing that could happen is he gets hurt early in the season and misses significant time.

- Cam knows what it is like playing without a red non-contact jersey when a NFL starting defense is out to knock you into next week on every snap.

So, put me down for Cam, week 1.

b.) I expect Belichick to make his decision as late as September 5th because next week will all be about final cuts, signing PS players, and some light fundamental work before we shift to week 1 game planning mode.

Strongly think it'll be Cam. And with the supporting cast he has this year, he'll even do just good enough not to get benched for a while. Which will be frustrating for me and lots of people on this forum, because we'll feel we're wasting part of Mac's development for a guy that will be "just good enough not to get benched," but who doesn't give us *any* hope for the future. We crave that long term stability that Mac promises. We want the growing pains out of the way asap. We don't want to be left wondering if Mac could have done the same after every good drive by Cam, or if Mac would have done better after a bad offensive sequence.

I want Mac but it looks like Newton won't go away without a fight.

drops obviously play a key role in the actual completion %. Better indicator of accuracy..

Was just gonna post this. Very interesting stats. Way more throws, higher completion percentage, lower INT %. I know Belichick isn’t a stats guy, but man that’s impressive.

If it was Cam bullet passes being dropped, absolutely certain the biased reporters wouldn't even be counting drops or reporting on them to create these fake 'adjusted' completion stats. An incompletion is an incompletion.

Agree with pretty much all of this. I'm not convinced that the knee brace is solely a precautionary measure for something nonexistent.

Cam will start and get 'wally pipped' by mac after he gets injured. And he Will get injured.
