Dropkick would have a nervous breakdown and you can't create new threads while in a straight jacket.

Siri... Post new thread on Patsfans titled "Why McDaniels is responsible for Jonnu Smith spraining his ankle."

Uh.. training camp is in fact, about individual competition. That's why the O and D is vanilla schemed in PS games. You'll see a lot of individual matchups, one on one's, and no doubling or support. Very little zone. They'll work on those when TC is over.
It absolutely is - no disagreement - but fundamental concepts remain such as playing defensive zone (how could Judon and Bentley have had drop back INTs yesterday if there is no zone coverage???)...OL protections and run blocking synchronization...otherwise why even run 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 drills? Why even bring the separate units (offense/defense/special teams) together at all?

I'm not saying that one on one isn't the focus (the point was made that TC is about the roster - agree with that point) - totally get that it is - but there is a higher level observation set to be made as well - how do these disparate parts fit? Do they fit at all?

There's glimpses of this type observation like when commenting on J. Smith's ability in the run game, but just personally I want that little bit more in the story...like is he akin to Dwayne Allen level blocking?

I'm likely a minority and asking too much however.
I used to do training camp reports when I was able to go to TC in person. It was hard to catch everything and write down notes as well. Reporters can't record practices.

Without the benefit of tape...it's hard to write about everything going on between 200 or so people over 3 hours....

Sure, fair point; however as a fan the final roster is just ONE aspect of the journey to the season start. Especially on a team where that roster will change 90 times (especially at the back end) in just the first half of the season. 22 individuals wouldn't win a single game no matter how they're gathered if just thrown on the field and told "Go!".
Mediots should be more sensitive about your fan journey
Though I imagine it has to be a tad difficult judging groups without pads, tackling, and scheming....against sacrificial lamb/camp fodder.

I have had few problems with my back, just the stiffness that comes with age. But years ago I decided stop doing anything that risks any back injury, so I never squat. Too risky. Too much of a temptation to lift heavy. Too easy to lose your technique and it only takes one slip. Occasionally I use the sit down leg machines, but mostly I think walking is the best exercise for the legs and pretty much everything else.

But the bottom line is that as you age, the old adage of "use it or lose it" is paramount. So it doesn't really matter WHAT you do as long as its something and that its done regularly, which has been harder to do the past 2 years.

I just saw that the daily infection rate of Covid is getting closer to the 245K/day number we had at the peak of last year. Something like 180K IIRC. Hospitals will run out ol beds in a week in Louisiana. Lessons never learned like Afghanistan. Ah me so sad.

Muscle stiffness and loss start after 50. Lots of guys exercise to minimize the muscle loss, but I dropped going to the gym from four to two days a week and instead go to Hot Yoga. The room is at 90F, and it is a lot of stretching while sweating. I sweat 10 times more than a traditional workout. My back is significantly better. Just have to keep going - not fun as it hurts a lot as I get older.

I am considerably younger than Belichick and I can back squat in about the 225-250 lb range. But for many workouts I will use far lighter weights in the 95-125lb range especially if I am using the bar from the floor. I do CrossFit and many of the workouts are designed to have lighter weights with higher rep schemes for more endurance and cardio strength rather than muscle strength.

And I have moved more to lighter weights myself because I don't care about one rep maxes anymore and I don't care to wake up the next morning feeling like I was hit by a freight train. So I get why Belichick would be working out with 95 LBs on the back squat.
I do CrossFit also. Every morning I Cross my fingers and hope I Fit in my jeans!

Important to note the checkdown issue is also being talked about by Giardi I think.
