Just 2 days ago the same mediots who are talking about how great Mac was in today's practice, were the ones who declared the QB competition over. I just have to laugh. These guys have NO shame. They wrote glowingly about a guy one day and the next they can completely ignore (forget) that and blast them the next. Talk about short term memory loss.
This is ALL we know about Mac's good day. It is very positive that he can come back from a bad day on Tuesday, in the first day of padded practice, and rebound today. Bad days will ALWAYS happen. How one responds to them is what coaches look for. Lets see who strings 7 or 8 of them in a row before we declare a winner of the competition.
These are EARLY days of TC. The kind of player you are today will be vastly different 3 weeks from now. Just as the kind of player you are at the start of September will be vastly different from the one you are in December. We as fans SHOULD stop taking "snapshots" of players at given time and think that's what they ALWAYS are forever. The great players are the ones that keep on getting better over time. So what we see on a given practice day or game isn't what the player is or will be. And improvement is NEVER a steady up or down graph. There will always be hills and valleys over a players career. You just have to hop that its a two steps forward and one step back progression rather than a one step forward, two steps back one,
