As a Patriot fan, I think Edelman in the Hall would be a beautiful thing to see. Yes I'm being a raging homer. Get over it. I really don't care if his stats aren't good enough for the media. I don't think the Patriots' second 'dynasty' or run of Super Bowl victories happens without Edelman.

Normally this would just mean "Team Hall of Fame," but when you're talking about the greatest NFL dynasty ever, and one of the best in American sports history, I think the discussion is valid. IMO it doesn't happen without Edelman.

Doesn’t matter what we think. He will not get the votes of the people who decide this because of his lack of pro bowls and a pretty short time as a starter 2013-2020 of which he missed all of 2017 and most of 2020.

Except it did happen without Gronk. Down 28-3.
That’s one season.

We’re talking about the most dominant TE in NFL history here.

How did the rest of the seasons go with or without him? They most likely win in 2011 with a healthy Gronk. They most likely at least go to the Super Bowl in 2012. They had no shot against the Broncos in 2013 without him. They do not win against the Seahawks in 2014 without him.
They have no shot of beating the Broncos in 2015 without him. They get blown out by the Eagles in 2017 without him. He set up the game winner against the Rams in 2018. They get bounced out of the 2019 WC round without him.

The offense always ran through Gronk. Edelman was always the sidekick/complementary player. The importance of Gronk vs Edelman is disrespectful to even consider.

Had the Pats not drafted Gronk, I don’t even think Brady stays past 2014.

I don’t care if Edelman gets into the NFL Hall Of Fame, he’s in the NFL Playoff Hall Of Fame, he’s in the Clutch Hall of Fame. He’s in the Warrior Hall Of Fame. Love Jules, him and Gronk are in my top 5 Pats of Dynasty II.

Brady
Edelman
Gronk
Hightower
McCourty

That’s my Dynasty II top 5, in that order.

I would love him to get in. But the fact is there is a backlog of receivers and Edelman has 0 Pro Bowls, 0 All Pros, only broke 1000 yards three times and never broke 1200, and the only stat he was ever in top 5 in was receptions in 2013, 2016 and 2019 (and in those 3 instances he was 4th, 4th, and 5th).

There's no chance a guy who was never top 5 once in receiving yards or TD's and never got a single regular season accolade is going to get in, even with all his playoff accomplishments.

Every other Patriots player from the dynasty era that has a shot at the HOF (Brady, Gronk, Law, Seymour, Mankins, Wilfork, and Vinatieri) all have multiple All Pro awards and were studs producers in the regular season beyond just strong playoff performances. Edelman just opens pandora's box for the voters. AJ Green is going to have a difficult time getting in and Edelman's going to jump him? The Patriots went to 5 SB's without Edelman as a starter and went to another in 2017 with him injured). So 6 of he 9 of the Brady Belichick era did not feature Edelman in a meaningful capacity. So it's hard to claim him as a catalyst when the team had been doing it without him both before and during his time with the team. There's a lot of great WR's who were better than Edelman who won't get in and if Edelman does, they are going to have a legitimate gripe that the biggest difference between them and him is that he played with Brady and under Belichick and they didn't.

Welker > Edelman

So talk to me about Edelman getting into the HOF after Welker gets in. Until then, there's nothing to discuss.

Do you think Welker gets in without the infamous drop? I think he does.

I'm not taking a shot at Welker rather the HOF committee.

Brady is the reason for the dynasty. Period.
I think last year told us that. Anyone know of Scotty Miller before last season?

It happened. You said it wouldn't , "and it's not even close", but it happened. So you're wrong.

OP here, I was taking for granted everyone already understands the dynasty doesn't happen without Gronk either, and he's already a no-question Hall of Famer

You're forgetting Patriots legend dude looks so good in a Pats uniform. Wish we'd had him his whole career

Darrelle Revis

One SB victory equals “dynasty” huh?

It’s laughable If you think the Pats would’ve had the same success without Gronk ever being on the roster and Edelman was more important.

Yeah. And a PED suspension. He’s not getting in the hall.

Yeah sorry, no. Welker had a better regular season career, but even without the drop, Welker is blown out of the water by Edelman's postseason accomplishments.
