Bruins Playoff Discussion Thread

I think you are right, keeping Krecji and Hall will be the priorities. Rask hasn’t gotten it done in a way that going with a new goalie makes sense, especially with his $.
It's kinda like the Pats. Shore up other areas and pay the rookie goalie on the cheap.

We will see. I hope you're right. They might offer less. And he would take it. rask and his family are comfortable in boston. it's been said many times he doesn't want to up root his family.
...but he shuttles off to Finland after his kid is sick and the other time when his wife throws him out of the house when she find out hes been banging this twenty-something from Brighton.

The bruins front office has some weird obsession with rask. They are gluttons for punishment. why is he still on the team after last year?
Alex Kraemer was the rink reporter he was banging.

What a sh*tty performance. Gotten d*cked by a team that will most likely be quietly eliminated in the next round. Oh well. Hopefully make some changes for the better in the offseason

Canadiens and Flyers had something to do with it.

Rangers were no joke either in the early 70s.

They were still a 100 point team after Orr but were not on the same talent level at MTL.
The '78 Bruins shoulda won the Cup, but alas they ran into one of those goalies that could take to the next level, Ken Dryden and again in '90 only to be shut out by a goalie with a huge phucking chip on his shoulder...Billy Ranford. I think they should give Swayman a serious look for next year and bring on another veteran journeyman to "compete" with him in camp.

I'd put Tuukka in the Hall of Very Good who benefits from a good system in front of him. He is capable of getting hot and more often than not caves when the pressure is at its greatest.

At the end of the day, he isn't at Billy Smith's level on his best day.
If there is such thing as a "system goalie" then he is it. Tuukka is like a tech weenie between the pipes. When he has to improvise or make that extra effort that goes beyond the technical aspects of his game, forget it. It's like he has no emotional reaction to losing.

I’m trying to think of a NFL comparison to Rask. Gotta be someone who racks up a lot of regular season wins, gets into the playoffs and racks up wins there but can never complete the deal. The 90s Bills?

These past two Bruins games were the first professional sports I’ve intentionally watched over the past season and a half or so at all. I thought I’ve been indifferent towards sports but the Bruins apathy these two games made me feel rabid by comparison. If that’s how they’ve been playing, I don’t see how Cassidy gets on the plane.

The Bruins' defense was devastated, the young defenders didn't step up enough, the best players on the team made huge misses on shots, Rask was hurt, and the same problems this team has had since the Julien days came back to bite them in the ass (long stretches of really lousy stick and pass play, too much willingness to allow the opposing offense to move into the zone, etc...). Some of that is fixable, some of that is not, and some of it is inexcusable.

Unless Mac Jones is for real I don’t see another championship for the region in a long while. Celtics are a light year away, the window on the Bruins being a championship contender is shut, Red Sox are good but we’ll see if moneyball can ever win a WS, and then there’s the Pats.

The bruins window is still open. It depends on what they do in the off season with rask. If they let him walk. They can make significant moves. They need to cut ties with kevan miller. He's just not reliable whatsoever.

Find a guy who's positionally on point, and is usually considered among the very best at his position, but can't do anything when he has to go off script, and who can play up to his full potential right up to the point of the biggest of the big games.

Basically, he's a poor man's Peyton Manning, pre-2006.

Keep the top two lines in place. 3rd and 4th lines are always replaceable. Plus, they’re gonna lose someone to the Kraken in the expansion draft and they have some young guys in Providence frothing at the mouth and ready to play. They need to give Swayman the keys to start the season and pick up a veteran journeyman like Halak to spot him every 4-5 games. Spend the $$$ in free agency on Hall, Krecji and defense.

I know that this is already widely known, but Felger is such an azz-sucking mouthpiece. How is he still taken seriously on Boston sports talk radio?

Dan Marino?
uh...no. That was what he was previously called before he retired. Today he is known around the world as Done Noringo.....NO SUPE FOR YOU!!!

He can be entertaining and provides more value than other sports markets where the radio people kiss all the teams asses because they need to to get media access.
