Julio Jones (June 6 Update - Traded to the Titans)

I could have sworn it was about Josh Allen at #10. I'm so bad at analysis.

That was one of many problems with that list. I cared much less about The One Who Shall Not Be Named at #4 than the others. Travis Kelce #5, TJ Watt #6, Myles Garrett #9, etc.

Pretty quiet regarding julio to the pats, dont think its happening
Usually when news is quiet it seems like the Pats surprise people and make a move. I don’t think they’re the favs to land him but I believe they’re in the mix.

My guess, Atlanta doesn't like the offers they have received thus far and are waiting for better offers. A month from now, when no better offers have been received, they will swallow their pride and trade Julio for two 4th round picks, maybe to the Pats.

Unfortunately, when it's quiet, often nothing happens too.

Yep.
We need to keep in mind that June 1st was just the opening of Julio hunting season. It doesn't have to close for a couple of months.

There's basically nothing in this for Julio if winning a championship isn't a priority over money, and based on everything we've heard, winning isn't a priority. Maybe he says that as lip service, but he doesn't seem at all interested in playing for a contender, or he'd make that very loud and clear. He's about money. That's fine. People can talk all they want about championships, but how many of us are willing to leave $10M on the table, or $10M in guaranteed money and instead take a non-guaranteed contract in the NFL? I don't judge him. At the same time, I don't see a lot of incentive for other teams to trade a lot for him...

Also, I heard some people say he's cheap next year, but he isn't. His 2022 salary would be, even with the sign-on bonus paid by Atanta in a trade, about $14M with base plus bonus. I don't know if that's a sticking point for teams looking to reduce that hit by tacking on extra years, or if it's a sticking point for Jones, who believes he'd be underpaid at that amount, or both.

But regardless, what stands out to me here is what we're not hearing...Jones talking to/negotiating with teams and making a plea that he wants to play somewhere else and willing to make it work any way he can. I'm not saying a trade won't happen; in fact, it will now, absolutely, with him taking a sweetheart deal, just to make me look bad.

I would argue so. It's a commentary and a satire on people who sleepwalk through their lives, or spend the majority of their lives waiting for something good to to happen to them. Of course it never does (or rarely does). It's a lesson to all of us about the reality of how fast life just goes by.

The bad thing about great literature is that it's often taught the wrong way or by teachers who are just not knowledgeable, or are just flat out bad, or bored with what they're teaching, to the extent that the greatness, the significance of the literature, is lost on the students.

I read this probably 55 years ago.. so do not remember all the details, I do remember it was part of what seemed like extremely heavy reading requirements when I started college + balancing a couple of jobs(Cab Driving and Shingling on the Cape a couple of days a week).. for many reasons it did not appeal to me.

Do not remember if the teacher was good or bad, do remember it took place in a large lecture hall so I probably dozed off more than once.. had a difficult first year of college, even put on academic probation (when I wasn't working spent too much time in bars), but learned to play the game better as time went on.

Guessing Bill made his final offer 3 weeks ago. Other teams will back out and spend their cap space elsewhere. Eventually Bill becomes one of the few suitors and gets him for a 3rd. He plays lights out, they make a playoff run. He wants to get paid. Bill trades him to the Lions or something for a 3rd next year.

I'm assuming this might be why the Pats haven't signed their top draft picks, saving cap space to allow them to fit in JJ then redo his contract to open space to sign the draft picks
