2021 Schedule Notes & Record Predictions

The Bucs and the two Bills games are the only ones that could be firmly in the loss column , the others are all potential wins. I might be too optimistic but we have the team and hopefully the quarterback to give this a good run. I can see double figures for sure. :excited:

When did "net rest" become a thing? Because I remember discussing it here four or five years ago and never saw it before then anywhere else.

It became a thing when it became apparent a new topic to discuss was needed

Funny how people call the owners greedy about going to 17 games, but the players union supports it, because the players get more money.

Funny strange, right? Not funny, ha ha.

I think the general consensus opinion on the two parties is that the NFL is greedy and the PA is weak. It's not that the players won't take the extra money for the extra game, it's that as a body they probably would prefer to keep it at 16 for health reasons, but they negotiated a CBA that gave the NFL unilateral power to increase it to 17 without them having to sign off on it.

Probably recently and because the chiefs or packers had to play 2 teams coming off a bye

12-5

think people are underestimating the defense. it isn't gonna be one that is the 6th worst run defense, allowing 130 per game on average.

1-7 in games they allowed 130+
6-2 in games they allowed less than 130
last year

4 of the losses when allowing 130+ could have easily been wins, lost those games by a combined 24 points

7-9 potentially becomes 11-5 with better run defense.

then add in the the offense is improved just by adding 2 competent TEs

12-5, maybe 13-4

The only way Cam is coming out is if he is hurt or if he is stinking up the joint AND the Pats are losing. If he is playing poorly and the Pats are, lets say, 6-2, he's the starter. And even if he is pulled, there is no guarantee that Jones will be the replacement. Nobody is handing him a job. He will have to be significantly better than Stidham to get that job. Not saying I agree with it, it's just how Bill operates. What do you want to bet Jones is third on the depth chart all season and doesn't even dress?
I think Jones passes Stidham on the depth chart fairly easily. He's a better qb than Stid right now. He just needs to learn the offense

Good point. I agree that BB will be extra salty in purposely not letting Mac get a hint of playing barring major injury issues. It will be interesting to see if Stid gets an earlier look - mostly for the offensive system operation. We all know Stid and Mac can play Josh's (Weis') offense much better than Cam. If Cam really sucks after 4-6 weeks, they may go to Stid. Then if we're 4-9 or something at the bye, they could get Mac going in prep for '22. It's going to be interesting.
I dont known that tossing an Interception every 5th throw is playing the system better than Cam

Stid is awful. Mac should have no trouble beating him in camp for the backup role at least.
While I agree, I don't know whether Belichick is ready to put Jones out there on Game 1 if Newton comes out of the game.

Belichick is on a 3 year plan. We are in Year 2. Newton is his choice for a transition quarterback. Jones may need time on the bench before Belichick wants him playing.

That being said, if Belichick is comfortable with Jones coming in on Game One if need be, than obviously, I am fine too.
==========
I have no problem with Stidham being there for a month or so, and then cut or traded (for a 6th or 7th) before the trade deadline.

Mac should have no trouble beating the second awful QB on this roster for the starting job.

If Jones is the better QB in camp, I think not playing him based on principle or plan is just plain stupid
