I take it that's directed at me. I never said in any post anywhere that I hope those things happen."Bucs roll"
"Poor Bill"
"I'd take the Bucs here at -13.5"
"Feels like a mismatch here"
"Can't see how the Pats compete here unless there are key injuries on the Bucs side"
That's a Patriots fan, right? Because if I didn't know better I sure wouldn't think so. I understand not being a complete Homer, but what genuine fan would actually say those things about the team they root for?
I don't get that mentality/approach to fandom.
This game is the biggest non playoff game for this team in a very long time. It means a lot to both Brady (and Gronk) and Bill, and there's no point pretending otherwise. The Pats are stepping up in weight class when they play the Bucs. I think the champs are a much better football team than the Patriots at most positions right now, Pats have an edge in coaching but not much else. We saw what the champs did to Brees, Rodgers and Mahomes. The Pats have a major problem at QB as long as Cam Newton is starter, and their strength on offense which starts with Harris just happens to match up poorly with the Bucs strength on defense. And as we all know, this team generally starts slowly while BB figures things out. The Bucs game is right in that window. All of that is the basis for how I feel about this game, I think they probably will come to play and hang in there for most of the game despite the mismatch on paper but I'm not optimistic otherwise. I will still be cheering loud for the Pats to make a statement and win this game.
And if the Bucs do blow out the Pats the noise directed at Bill and the organization will be loud. Maybe "poor Bill" was a little carried away - he did handle the Milloy fiasco just fine and that was a lot of noise too.
