DRAFT Rhamondre Stevenson

this is nice . maybe hollywood jules finds it boring there as he should and comes home for some FO/coaching/character building duties
so this indeed makes it Burkheads 2021 roster spot to a T . not sure about Bolden making it though..

Cannot be...overrated? Understated?

Seems weird to me that a college star at a major school, a guy rated in the top-5/6 rbs, knowing he was about to be drafted, doesn't have a blue checkmark on Twitter.

I don't mind the player - I thought I read/heard somewhere that he is one of the better blocking RBs in the class - but I HATE the pick at 120, especially when that pick should've been Tylan Wallace...That's why this deserves a D grade.

Disagree, goodbye Brandon Bolden, Michel will back up Harris, White, Taylor, and Stevenson will fill out the unit.
How many seasons will it take until we understand that Belichick considers Bolden a STer, a good one. Many here want to to reduce ST roster spots.

I expect Slater, Bolden and Gunner to make the 53 as Sters (as well as Bethel, Davis and Reynolds).

I understand. Everyone has their WR who will be a star, much more important to them than a Blunt clone.

What some of us continue to forget is the really bad cap status of so many teams. One of them is more likely to beat out Harry for a roster spot than whichever WR he might decide on in the 4th round or later. Of course, someone will be a star; there is no assurance that it would be Wallace or the one we chose.

From the way I graded the roster, it's going to be very tough keeping all of those ST players. I see Slater, Bethel, King, and Gunner as virtual locks for the 53, but it's harder to justify keeping the ones who are both old and not elite like Davis and Reynolds. Even Bolden could be in danger considering his age and how long it's been since he's played.

Ultimately, I expect the team will find a way to keep more of these ST players than I think they will. But it appears like it might be at the expense of higher quality depth at other positions more than most years.

Sooner or later you have to replace old special teamers with young special teamers. Guys like Bolden and Slater will eventually be replaced. Stevenson is a good candidate to replace one of them.

This is a possibility I hadn't considered until I looked at the updated Pats Picker. Trying to get this roster down to 53 right now is difficult, but it's because I was including a lot of the typical ST mainstays (Slater, Bethel, Davis, King, Bolden). There's always more of these guys than fans expect, but if Stevenson shows value there, he could supplant Bolden and we'd still have 4 ST specialists.

Slater, Bethel and Davis are locks. King hasn't played in 2 years- sadly.

Love Bolden but hes on the outside looking in.

I think you might be right. Prior to the Stevenson pick, I thought Bolden was a lock because he is a plus special teamer, and can really back up any role amongst the RB. So he could still make it if someone gets hurt, or Stevenson just completely bombs, but if everyone is healthy there doesn't look like a place for him.

One other possibility (though I think it's a very small one) is that they trade Michel. Last year of his contract, unlikely to re-sign. Harris is your main back, White your 3rd down specialist, Stevenson your bruiser and backup to Harris, and Taylor your shifty backup to White, you could get by without Michel. Not my preference though, since I think we're going to be a run heavy team and don't want to hurt depth there. But we've traded guys in the last years of their contract before at positions with worse depth (Branch in 06 being one that comes to mind).

King hasn't played in 2 years. Saying he is a lock is a bold proclamation.

Sure, I'll stop calling him a lock if it makes you feel better.
I said it was bold. I didn't say it was stupid Mr. Sensitive.

If you can't handle other posters challenging your assertions, maybe this place isn't for you

You don't think his versatility - especially his understanding of blitz pickup - outside of the ST role is enough to keep him here?

I knew he was injured often the past couple years but didn't realize he didn't play at all. Not good for an ST only player.

It's a shame. He was good.

I do. I love him. If he's on the 53 there will be no issues on my end.

Maybe it's Sony who goes? No ST value and not a big part of the passing game (but better)

If Stidham doesn't show SOMETHING in camp, he'll be on the PS or with another team. I don't think they're keeping three on the 53.

Is it bold to think that Mac Jones will be better than Stidham after a single preseason?
