2021 NFL Free Agency/Trade News & Discussion: April Edition

I saw Breer reporting that the only two teams going to Justin Fields’ second pro day are... the Pats and the 49ers.

I feel like this is just the longest game of chicken ever with these two.

It's like when you have those two friends that you know are into each other. They keep showing up "accidentally" to the same parties and events, but always act coy like, "Nah, we're just friends", while everyone around them is just silently screaming JUST F**K ALREADY SO WE CAN ALL GET ON WITH OUR LIVES.

the best coverage linebacker in this draft is the kid from lsu. If we miss out on parsons, he would make a good consolation prize in the second round.

Jabril Cox?

Oh bull. The guy can’t handle pressure is horrible reading the field. Mac Jones is a lot more comfortable in the pocket. You like fields and i like jones for the pats. Neither might play for the pats but we shall see who turns out to be the better QB.
Cousin, You are quite right. Jones will be Drafted, in my opinion, too high for his value at #3. Not to say he could not become a Pro Bowl QB. Fields has a stigma surrounding him.....Ohio State QB's and their curse to be successful as an NFL QB. He also has a short read clock and he jack rabbits. Not saying he can't be successful. The best for him as a teacher is Cam. .....but alas, he is just another Ohio State QB.
I think that neither will be Drafted by the Pats. I think that the 48ers could have hit perhaps Detroiy and gotten Jones.

The new hot rumor is the Falcons, with all their needs, might have decided to throw the 35 year old Ryan to the wolves, not buld talent and instead Draft a QB of the future. The NFL "professional personnel" men and almost always wrong talking head evaluators have made it official......Fields is their #3 guy. The NFL guys are right only a surveyed 17% of the time in every Draft per average within a fair period of three years gestation time of success or not. So there is a good chance, the GA. native Fields could go back home at pick #4.

The best shot at a supposed talent laden sure thing (what?) QB of the "Fab 4, plus 1" is Lance. Of course we would still have to hop the Broncos, yet keep an eye on the Dolphins or Carolina who may cheat on their QB "spouses" and opt for a shiny new QB for, as they say..........COMPETITION.

Detroit at pick #7 for our #15 and #46 still gives a Draft value "points" advantage to the Lions. They need some studs. Then we take Lance? O.K . I could live with that if I am BB.

I can't wrap my arms around throwing two "ones" and perhaps two "twos" to Draft Fields, or Jones through the Falcons for that matter.Sure the Falcons could do a trade with us, take a blue chipper at #15 and come back and get another GA raised QB in Davis Mills at #46 and the cherry is our first and second picks in 2022. Smart thinking. The worst that could happen is the Pats say no and the Falcons are forced with a gun to their head to take Pitts.

I hope the Pats are doing homework on Trask. Mills and Mond (although his completion percentage is way below what the Pats would seek at less than 60%.

Plan "B" might be go back to Lynch during the Draft, start talking Jimmie G again. The 49ers need a CB. They just signed another QB and now have 4 QBs on their roster not including who they Draft. And Nick Mullens is still a possibility healing an elbow.

Lynch is not going with 5 QBs.

The logical proposal is Jimmie G (I am not a Jimmie G fan, but it could work out and we aren't throwing picks this way) for Gilmore. Sign Jimmie G to an extension and pay J.C. BUT.......the secret ingredient would be add Richard Sherman. He is younger than McCourty (both). He still has a year or two.

As everybody expected, the Bucs signed a running back who is a 2009 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas. It's just Bernard rather than high school teammate James White.

Maybe they can sign Philip Dorsett and a Bosa or two, and get the whole St. Thomas Aquinas band together. That is quite a talent factory...

Let me guess: this came out from the middle of your butt-cheeks and you just couldn't hold it in? :)

If i ignore the laughable attempt of misrepresenting Uche as a player - which i believe was just your TM grumpy routine - saying that he
“doesn't want to“ play inside - is beyond even your hatred standards.. and goes against your main agenda vs BB authoritarian :)

On that ZERO part though:

Lucky for Uche that Hamler had to wait for the ball...

But please, continue to attempt to justify the pick, which includes the trade-up...

Yep Hamler had him beat. Terrible timing and accuracy from the QB.

It's odd too because the QB had perfect protection to make that throw. If the QB laid that out there the moment Hamler cut up the middle that's an easy TD.

Right. Look at it this way.
It’s 8 other guys, Bentley, Simon and Hall or 8 other guys HT, judon and KVN.

ENORMOUS difference and on top of that we upgraded the DTs in the middle.

Agree with the top half...Simon's done here, and JaWrong needs to be done here too...

Don't know how much we really upgraded the DTs in the middle...Not by as much as we could have - and should have - done...

Parsons is risky. I'm not liking his character issues that is coming to light and hear he's not great in coverage. But I agree that we don't know how much HT has left in the tank. I was hoping there was a LaVante David/Devon White type LB in this draft.

At 6'4 260, Zaven Collins is pretty good in coverage, especially vs TEs...In fact if Bill doesn't take a QB with his first pick, then Collins just might be the best option for us...unless things go really sour regarding Gilmore & JCJack and we have to use our first on Horn or Surtain, one of whom will likely be taken before #15...

Simon did his job up until 2020 IMO. Bentley had a good 1st year when he wasnt injured and has been average since. I hope he sticks and improves this year.

I think Simon could perform closer to his 2019 self with more talent around him (mostly Judon and the return of KVN). He's probably not part of the plan though.

The Bentley situation makes me sad. That early rookie season was really, really good. It reminded me of seeing Trey Flowers take the field for the first time (at a different position). I don't know if I can even say he's been average since the injury, though. I can't think of anything he does particularly well.

I’m not sure Simon is going to return to that level again at 31. The game is getting faster.

Yeah Bentley was very good his rookie season. Maybe he needs a better cast around him.

Yep, Simon was good for us his first 2 years here, until last season when he looked too slow to make enough plays to justify his snaps...He was a great post-Cutdown Day signing and helped win us the 2018 SB, and was a member of the first half of 2019 Boogiemen...But...we need more speed & youth at the position.

Just over two weeks to go until the draft and I still have no idea what the Pats are going to do on day 1 despite the various posts on the subject

Moss' boy is going to the Bengals.
