Is Trey Lance worth Patriots to trade up to get?

For me it’s BPA or trade Into next year at 15 or trade into next draft.
Then focus on Mond or Mills in rounds 2 thru 4.
Would jump all over Waddle or Smith in the first.

Mel Kiper's latest mock has the Pats getting Fields at 10. Now there is a good compromise for the pro and anti trade up crowd. The cost to trade up to 10 is significantly less than the trade to 4. In Kiper's scenario, the Pats "only" give up their 2022 first rounder and obviously the 15th pick.

Too bad Kiper is usually wrong on things.

A second rounder? No. He was a first rounder and his stock when up to the top 10.

Based on the value chart, that move should only cost an early third round pick. So even accounting for some wiggle room there based on demand, giving up any more than our 2nd rounder would be a vast overpay for the jump from 15 to 10.

Yup it sucks but i think the 49ers see Fields’s game. They could be bluffing and take fields but have this feeling they will take mac jones.

I don't watch enough college football to know who is good enough or not to take. But if the Pats are convinced that Fields is a franchise QB in the making, I don't mind the risk. But if they are just trading up to get the last QB standing of the top 5 available, then I would pass.

I can see them taking a risk and hoping to fix his flaws that’s for sure.

Not sure why the 49ers would bluff. The first two picks seem to be locked in and the 49ers aren't trading down after giving so much to trade up. There is no real benefit for them to bluff unless they think the Jets aren't sold on Wilson and could draft Fields if they saw that the 49ers were willing to mortgage the future to get him. Otherwise though, it is almost like having the first pick in the draft because you can disclose who you are interested in with no fear of someone jumping ahead of you to steal him.

I’m thinking the trade up would be to Carolina at 8. Gilmore and #15. Uber rich and ambitious owner Dave Tepper seeks to gain favor with the Krafts.

Although remember there were rumors last month of a trade with the Cowboys #10 and Gallup for Gilmore and #15.

But that doesn't speak to why they would bluff right now. In fact, if the Pats are locked in on Fields, the 49ers would have more leverage to trade Jimmy predraft if they made it look like they were going to draft Fields .

apparently there were rumors that Apollo was considering moving their headquarters to Jupiter Florida!

I still think the 49ers are taking Fields. Shanahan has already worked with him in his QB camp and traded into the 3 spot when it became most likely that Lawrence and Wilson were the first two being taken and that the Jets weren’t budging. I can see it going Lawrence, Wilson, Fields for the first 3, then Lance gone by 8 (I don’t see the Panthers passing on him even with Darnold in tow).

I could imagine a scenario where Mac Jones slips and is available at 15, but BB passes on him for a stud defensive player like Parsons, Horn, or Paye. I’d imagine such a move would piss off some people around here. Not saying that it will happen, but that I could see it happening.

I think either Fields or Lance would be a nice upgrade for the Pats future at the franchise QB position.

In my Madden draft, Fields dropped all the way to 32, I drafted him and he developed Superstar X-factor by the end of the playoffs. But Madden predictions never come true... or do they?

CBS just did a mock with the Patriots trading up to #4 with Atlanta to pick Trey Lance, the price, 3 1st round picks, #46 this year and a 3rd next year.
