That's probably what SF is thinking, but I personally don't see an enormous gap between the value those two provide.

The 49ers might be realizing the window is closing on getting anything of value for the QB they would like to upgrade and who they definitely do not want pay $24 million this season.

Garopolo and Minshew?
For real? You mean if Jimmy misses half the games again?

His availability does contribute to his value, yes. It's not like he's an All-Pro when he does play, either.

If the Patriots get Jimmy G I’ll be the first to get my jersey.
Here’s the thing if the Patriots get Jimmy G for say a mid round pick? Do you still draft a QB high?

If they somehow got him, they'd rework his contract to give him more guaranteed money, but spread out over 3 years or more, I'd expect.

So, no. Maybe a Mills or Mond or Newman later on.

We’re they interested? I thought they chose fitz pick six over them.
They did. But that’s a place where they could compete to be a starter.

But there is zero chance minshew beats him out if he is healthy.

Assuming they would sign them.
Yeah, obviously they wouldn’t (or at least haven’t tried yet). I think, to your point, it shows how Trubisky, Mustache and Mariota are all viewed as backups around the league and why they’re happy to be in good backup situations. Mustache at least might get to be a bridge QB for a bit.

I was just speaking to the claim that these guys were afraid to compete for a stating job so they took a cheap contract to be a backup.
