Taylor is a big wild card in our RB situation. If he can catch and pass protect, we're all set there. There isn't *zero* need for the more traditional type of RB, it just isn't the #1 priority at the position right now. Or at least in my opinion shouldn't be. As you mention, we're showing interest in non-receiving backs. It could be due to an intention of moving on from Michel, or just perceived value. I wouldn't be mad if we signed any of Lindsay/Fournette/Carson. It just wouldn't fill a need.
Makes sense.

Cousin, This makes the cheese more binding. The Rams are in absolute CAP hell. Trade for Cooper Cupp and his $14.5mm salary for Harry and they only have 5 Draft picks. Two lower end pics and Harry for Cupp.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday that the club has created about $12 million of cap space by restructuring cornerback Jalen Ramsey‘s contract and about $8 million with restructuring wide receiver Robert Woods‘ contract.

According to Rapoport, defensive tackle Aaron Donald and wide receiver Cooper Kupp are also on the list for Los Angeles to create cap space through converting their base salaries into a signing bonus to spread the hit over multiple years.

I guess Bill said "f*** the comp formula for 1 year"
They had only one player who was worthy of a high comp pick in Thuney. Who else is going to bring in higher than a 6th? Andrews? White? Guy? In fact, if anything, that should be taken as a sign of just how poor the top line talent for this team was last season.

I love what they’ve done with this team.....basically scrubbed the team of Brady connections .... Edelman is still here, but he’s a different dude altogether ....

Oh yes, I’d love Chris Carson. For whatever reason, I was thinking of Rashaad Penny. Would definitely love Carson here in NE.

Good RB, but I'm concerned with his ability to stay healthy.

its how they are spread over years
We're talking two different things maybe? You seem to be concerned with "cap hit" when we have the highest available cap. I'm talking about the cash being handed out (that doesn't affect the cap in Yr 1) to get these deals done.

Of course they're setting things up to lower cap hit (which is defined as actual cap hit not by how much it reduces the cap) for the 1st year, but the guarantee is being paid regardless.

Kind of interesting to look at:

The top 25 are almost all gone, but 25-100 are still mostly still unsigned.

True. Although, it’s not as bad as I thought it was initially.
I like Carson too. Strong runner. Was banged up last year but doesn't seem like a Sony -situation where he needs to be managed.

the beauty of free agency so far is how far everyone else is behind

the pats 1000% had a plan, and they waited for the bell and executed it.......no feeling it out, they went out and got their guys

there's going to be a time where there's forks in the off season script, or choices to be made, but so far they are just hammer down, get it done

it's glorious so far
What makes you think other teams don't have a plan. There are teams that actually like to sit by and watch others spend like crazy, patiently waiting for the right opportunity to get a player at "value" instead of rushing head first into a bidding war.

There's actually been some good deals done by other teams, just not at the volume of the Pats.

If you see what Caserio is doing at HOU, he's following the format Pats did for years, searching for low cost value signings. They're the 2nd most active team I believe. (Edit: it's actually JAX)

Jaguars bring back Alualu:

They probably have concerns about the durability of Taylor and the Glass brothers.
True, and I think they want bruisers. Harris plays hard, but Fournette plays harder. He wears teams down. He can make you miss, or he can run you over. I'd love him here - three quality RBs with fresh legs.

Watching the last Bucs games, I knew he would be instrumental in bringing the trophy there if they won it.

Top receivers are still there. I thought one of the big fish would be gone by now
Same, find that very odd. I highly doubt NE makes a move, but if the market stagnates and Samuel will take sub-$10M a year... bite. He can play multiple positions.

On that note of versatility, I would love a Patterson reunion too.

Of course they're setting things up to lower cap hit (which is defined as actual cap hit not by how much it reduces the cap)

If you look at Miguel contract structure he actually calls it Cap Number which makes sense.
Cap Hit should mean how much it actually reduces/hits your Cap Space (acc to TOP 51 rule) so id argue my use of the term is fitting
Then more people would know there is still a lot left to spend..:)
