Player Signing Cam newton resigned 1 year deal

What are you talking about? Even asymptomatic COVID patients can have brain fog or other lingering effects - see Tatum, Jason, for example.
What you're describing are symptoms. The NFL has different protocols for players who have symptoms (call them effects if you like) vs no symptoms. The symptomatic category is also sub-divided into players with mild symptoms vs. severe symptoms. Cam did not say he had mild symptoms, he said no symptoms.

You cannot have it both ways and say no symptoms during the infection to get back faster and then later excuse poor play because of it. Missed practice time during quarantine is a separate issue, but that's not what I was responding to. The OP mentioned cough, fatigue, stomach issues, and flu-like symptoms and speculated that Cam may have had similar issues that affected his play. Then, someone else suggested that Cam may have had these symptoms and lied about them because "it's the NFL".

I personally think Cam was telling the truth about being asymptomatic and to his credit he's stuck to it (unlike Tatum). But if you're going to say that Cam's performance suffered from covid symptoms (not from missed practice), that implies Cam and/or the team lied to avoid covid protocols and the league could certainly impose penalties if they find out.

50 cents isn’t palatable.
Having Newton pay us 5 million to be on the team isn’t palatable. Having Cam Newton no where near Gillette Stadium is the only palatable option.
You're preaching to the choir.
Imagine what Krafty Sr and Jr are thinking as they watch their GM/C/DC spend their millions on the likes of Lazy and Lousy

Going to be a lot of angry Patriots fans if the first few rounds of the draft pass and no quarterback has been taken.

True, nothing I value more highly than the opinion of homers on an internet forum
************. Some people take this whole message board thing way too seriously.

Hahahaha suck it haters your tears are extra salty on this fine Friday Morning

This move proves Belichick will always know more about football than all of you arm chair GMs combined. Cam wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but he is a far better player than any of you casual football fans give him credit for. I better not see any of you casuals celebrating when Cam and Bill start winning games next year. Maybe it's time some of ya'll find a new team to root for?

If they're going to spend money on special teamers and not WRs the results won't be pretty regardless....

Brady masked a lot of the inefficiencies on offense. He isn't here anymore. Now Bill actually has to get a real wide receiver

This is simple. I have said all along that if they bring back Cam, I will conclude that they are not serious about competeing next year. If they don't care about next year, I don't either. After over 50 years, I'm out.
If they are not serious about competing, you just play Stidham. What is frightening me is that I am persuaded that Bill love Cam and think that they can win with him and will again sign old veterans trying to compete and delay the rebuild one more year.

I'm going to save this post and post it again when the Pat's go 8-8 or 7-9 this year.

Wait. So you think that a player will prioritize liking newton more than he likes the guy who is actually a good qb and choose to sacrifice his career to chill
With cammy?
ludicrous.
But perhaps you can give me a list of all these guys who broke down the door robber Carolina to sign them.
Maybe I came off wrong. Not saying Cam's personality will trump a better QB's play, but these are only pieces of the greater picture. I am simply saying many NFL players like Cam and probably have a better opinion of him than we do, and that having him is better than not and trying to sign guys with Stidham at the top of the depth chart.

Yep. Only reason I’m not completely flipping out right now is - 1) I took a clonazepam this morning and 2) I’m assuming they’ll still be looking to draft a QB in round one.

I agree, way too many people here and concluding this means we’re taking a qb with a high pick. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Bill is all in as Scam as his qb for next year.

I think this means they’re going to target Trey Lance since they both have very similar playing styles. Might mean Newton starts again next year and mentors Lance. FWIW, Lance is also supposed to be a film junkie.
I am having a hard time spending #15 on a kid with 17 starts at ND state. I get he's supposed to be the dude, but that's pretty risky. I'd feel better if he was a 3 year starter with a couple of major bowl/playoff appearances.

Uhhhhhhhhhh. Isn’t that what you did?

Darnold would cost 5M this yr and 19M next on 5y option + troubles to decide on long-term overpay. While he didn't show yet show he can take NFL. With Jimmy they got to SB w similar team they have (or lesser). And they would lose 1 cheap starter for a high pick lost. Do you really think thats a good deal for complete unknown?
Fair points, but I can see SF wanting the cap space this year more in order to make other moves. Jimmy has taken them to a Super Bowl but has also missed way more games for them than he's played. I can absolutely be wrong.

Brady didn't have "these weapons". He had a rookie Meyers, a Rookie Olszewski, and half and Edelman. Not to mention holes on the O-line with no Andrews and no Wynn (for half the season). Mason and Cannon were playing injured.

Give Brady the O-Line of Wynn, Thuney, Andrews, Mason, Eleumenor/Onwenu/Herron and the team is better. Look at how much Meyers improved after he came back..
Well yeah, but is the offense good? Probably not. Same weapons as last year with Brady, team maybe makes the playoffs but, they don’t go far.

At any rate, this signifies we're drafting a QB that can watch cam skip passes all year and learn awful pocket awareness and footwork. Should do wonders for his development. At least he'll learn how to be liked.
