Interesting development on the Jimmy G front

I agree, but the question I originally responded to was could Bill win with a QB not at the level of brady. Not whether the roster is ready to win now. And the answer is, yes he can win if he can build a solid roster. Would that roster be better with Brady? Yes, but he still can win games if he has an NFL QB.

For some reason if you mention that the Bucs are a very talented team, people come out in droves to tell you why they weren't really that talented.

But if you mention how Bill did win games without brady then the argument is "well the teams were talented so they don't count"

The reason this happens is you are debating idiots that are insane.

Only accept their facts and only facts that support what they want to be true are considered.

I still cannot help thinking that with all this talk about the Pats being interested in Garoppolo that this is a misdirection. Belichick rarely shows his cards like this. There is no upside and only downside in telegraphing this. If Belichick seems so desperate to get Jimmy G, it will just allow the 49ers to drive up the price.

I wouldn't be shocked if Belichick went after Darnold or someone else selling it as he really wanted Garoppolo but the 49ers aren't playing ball and the guy he really wanted is his plan B and just testing the water just in case he cannot get Garoppolo.

In fact, I would expect that if Belichick really wanted Garoppolo, he would let it leak that he is losing interest in him and looking elsewhere to light a candle under Lynch's butt to make a deal before he loses out on the team that might give him the best compensation for Jimmy G.
I don't think there is anyway on the face of the earth that the Jets trade Darnold to us.

Is Jimmy the next Adam Seward or Larry Fitzgerald?

Rarely does BB do what this board expects him to do. How many of these threads do we have of Pats looking to sign/trade for "Player A" and it never happens. Unless Jimmy is cut (which he won't be) I just don't see this happening.
Adam Seward and Chris Conley

I heard it on talk radio this morning. Here is an article from earlier in the season about their interest in Jimmy in 2021.

They are also listed as one of the top 3 teams interested in Jimmy in this off-season article.

I think Garoppolo has a no trade clause in his contract. I am guessing he will not want to go to Washington without a new deal. Just a guess. And Chicago has been a long rumored landing spot since it is his home town and they need a new QB assuming they are moving on from Trubisky.

I think that is true no matter where he goes via trade. That is why I am concerned about us signing him. I think Bill will want to pay him less, whereas other teams will pay him more and probably part with higher draft capital as well.

Jimmy G? Seriously? 1 hit and out for 3 months Jimmy G? Cmon man........Get Russell WIlson or draft a rook........

I think he feels he can rehab his career in New England because he knows the offense and has done well in it. If Bill was to trade for Garoppolo, it might be a short term thing for both sides.

I have not seen BB as the source of any of this talk. The focus on JG could be because we know much more about how BB valued JG (he already drafted him) and we don't know what he thinks of other QBs.

if BB did say something the Pats would lose their entire draft for tampering.

Definitely does feel like misdirection, but wonder who the true "Plan A" is. It may just be a case of NE feigning like they only want Garoppolo to make themselves appear to not be a suitor for other QBs and keep the market for whoever they do want depressed.

Be a use every time a player is available this board has the pats looking to sign/trade.
Of 1 out of every 32 happens “the board” is wrong 31 out of every 32 and the patriots got their share.
There are, I assume, a couple hundred people posting here. At least one of them is wrong about everything. That’s why it’s so funny to see posts like “the board wanted” or “the board knew that was a bad move” etc etc as if “the board” shared a mind.

You can’t tie rumor back to the team any more. There are tons of people with Twitter accounts who make things up or give opinions that ultimately turn into rumors.
This one is too easy. There is a connection so it’s believable and no one really cares if the source is a fat guy in moms basement making a prediction.

Had Brady not gotten hurt, 16-0 again was a real possibility. 14 - 2 was a certainty.
No chance at 16-0 and 14-2 is doubtful. Defense was not very good in 2008.

Playoffs for sure at least. The Colts game was lost on a Cassell screwup.
