That's irrelevant to your argument about the Cardinals. I agree that running QBs are all major injuries just waiting to happen. But, until they happen, the teams are the teams. And the Cardinals are a good (not great, but good) and improving offensive team that just beefed up its pass rush, and will likely address its defensive back end weakness in the draft.
What's irrelevant is citing an injury to excuse a loss, particularly against a team that, due to circumstance and opt-outs and timing of CAP space, had been essentially obliterated. The Pats this year were the worst Patriots team of the last two decades. And, in my opinion, very likely to be the worst Patriots team for the rest of BB's tenure.
64 million in CAP space (not counting Trent Brown's contract) and with room to more than offset anything in that contract. A ton of FAs ready to grab - suppose they pick up Henry, Higgins, and Humphries - they have just improved their receiver corps by leaps and bounds. Throw in Rudolph and Sanders for security.
Suppose they sign Tomlinson, Milano (or Van Noy), and a stout DE, re-sign Guy, maybe Shelton...
Now they're back to drafting for luxury instead of need, amd with the highest picks we've seen in a long time.
They can do ALL of that and more. Add in the development of more 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year guys than I can ever remember seeing lots of playing time on a BB team, (not counting an improvement at QB, which I don't see how it could be worse), and I have absolutely Zero trouble in taking the Pats even against the Cardinals next year.
Opinions may vary, but I think BB the coach is worth a couple-few wins a year.
