Given Brady's 20 years history of great leadership, I'm not sure there's been anything in NFL history as overhypedd as Cam's leadership.
Agree. Brady's leadership and overwhelming talent created a false narrative for many in New England. Cam was the beneficiary.

I wasn't trying to compare Newton to Brady. I was just saying that someone can be a great leader, without it translating to results on the field. I was agreeing with you that his leadership was overrated because it didn't make a tangible difference.
I should have been more clear. My use of "You" in that case was meant to be the universal "you". It was not meant to make you, Sicilian, the particular target.

Sorry for the confusion.

Oh and Develin, Johnson and Andrews go on IR. There goes a respected running game. Wynn comes back but it's too late b/c the passing game is crap.

Losing Gost and King on STs hurt them as well.
Losing Brandon the King (of STs penalties) didn't hurt this team in any way, shape or form.

Oy Vey. I don’t even know where to start.
If jones is off the board by 15, do you not think mills could grow into just as good a qb as Jones?

You seem to equate "going for a Super Bowl" with "winning a Super Bowl".

IMO, the Saints are the example of going all in to try to win a SB. One could argue that this was and is true of Tampa Bay. Most posters here would agree to spend every cap dollar and push lots into the future if we KNEW
Not sure where you got that from. Im saying the goal should be winning SBs.

The goal is always to win the Super Bowl.

For some, it follows that if your current team has little chance to be the Super Bowl winner, you should cut all the players who will not be a valuable part of next year's team, and carry forward money to the next year for free agent signings.

I think Mills is rated way below Jones for a reason. So the obvious answer is, I doubt it very much. Hopefully Jones is there at 15, and hopefully the Pats are smart enough to take him.

It all really depends who’s there at 15 as well what the Pats do prior to the draft. If they sign or trade for a QB who they still feel has a future, like Garappolo, then the game plan changes. Also, if someone like Davante Smith, Jaelon Waddle or Kyle Kitts is still there, they would be a steal at 15.

Also, they could trade UP to select a QB they like better than Jones. A lot of options. But if they answer the WR/TE position in FA, my preference is they sign someone like Fitzpatrick and draft a QB in the 1st round, either at 15 or higher up.

Not really. Yes every team wants to win the SB but few take risks to get over the top that could lead to down years after.
Im saying SB and 9 2 win seasons is preferable to me to no Sb and 10, 10-11 win seasons. Many people disagree.

I see very little chance jones is not there at 15.

who needs qb’s ahead of the patriots:

jacksonville
Jets
Atlanta
Carlolina

Are you thinking Washington will trade up to get ahead of us?

Thank you for your clarification. I do disagree.

Kraft surely disagrees. I suspect that Belichick does also.

I believe that Kraft has talked about a commitment to a competitive team each year. As Parcells used to say, the SB is always the ultimate goal. However, competing and then winning the division was important. Being in the Championship game was important. Getting to the SB was important. And, of course, the most important goal is winning the SB. As an aside, making it to the dance as a wild card team was OK, but certainly not as good as winning the division.

It’s not really a matter of disagreement it’s a matter of preference.
To me it’s all and only about SBs. A non SB winning year is a non SB winning year. The only value in a good non SB year over a crappy one is the inference that you are closer to winning one.
There is one goal. Getting close and failing is no better than being far away and failing.

I accept other people feel differently but I suspect it’s only because of the perception 10-6 is closer to a championship than 3-13.

My example is 9 2-14 and a SB championship every 10 years vs never winning a SB despite winning 10-11 regular season games.
Framed that way belichick and Kraft may agree. I think they would. Win 3 SB in 30 years and suck the other 27 or be decent for 30 and never finish the job.
Sure it’s not realistic but it’s an exaggeration to emphasize winning a SB is the only real success.

At the very least a half dozen teams are looking at quarterbacks... the falcons might pass this year because they still have Matt Ryan, but the team has been non committal to him...
  • Jaguars
  • Jets
  • Falcons
  • Panthers
  • Eagles
  • Broncos

I'll take the latter.

One of the reason I dropped my Red Sox tickets was because of feast-or-famine. They won the WS and were unwatchable right after. Rinse and repeat. As great as that moment was when Koji struck out the last batter, a year later, I couldn't give away tickets.

The Patriots playing into late January is a must for me. I want to see a competitive team, a team with a shot, at least. Last year was borderline unwatchable and they won 7 games.

Different people prefer different things.
