Kyle Van Noy: Possibly back on the market?

Trying to figure out the motive for Miami cutting KVN. His production was fine, and the defense was among the year's best. No record of him being anything but a solid clubhouse leader. Some nagging injuries throughout the year, but nothing long-term debilitating that we know of.

Per overthecap, Miami has $31 million of cap room AFTER cutting Van Noy, so they were looking at about $21 million prior to KVN's release. Not bad considering the dire cap situation across the rest of the league. The team has clear needs at RB, WR, OB and OL, but those could be filled in the draft and with some smart FA signings.

The team did get surprising production from other pass rushers: Jerome Baker, Emmanuel Ogbah, Shaq Lawson, and some guy named Andrew Van Ginkel. Perhaps the team saw an inefficiency in their spending and decided the extra $10 million could be more effectively spent elsewhere. Or, they are gearing up to make a big move at QB?

In any case, I would welcome KVN at a much higher rate than being suggested. $8 - $10 million is fair market, and he will earn it on this defense. Adding Hightower AND Van Noy to this defense significantly improves this team.

After he ran his mouth...prob not coming back
He didn’t run his mouth at all. He said the Patriots talked sh!t during their win early in the season, so they paid them back. That’s not dissing the Patriots, that’s giving the sh.t they were talking right back to them.

I’d love to have him back, really good player and a leader on the field. Don’t see the harm, if he’s lost a step the can play him inside more.

Agree would also take Shelton back as well....even Harmon, the only player I want no part of in returning is E. Roberts...he can stay down in Miami and continue to wiff on all open field tackles.

How about Jordan Richards?

I'm thinking QB
Yeah I think this makes the most sense. The fact that they can send Tua in return in addition to some 1sts is great for Houston. Caserio can hang his hat on it. "Well we lost the franchise QB but at least I got at top-5 drafted QB in return, he will be great with some experience!"

Yep thats the messaging to the fan base.

Threads like these are cool because the people who think they're so goddamn smart inevitably wind themselves into a corner where they have to eventually either admit they were wrong (an impossibility for the truly obnoxious types) or end up rooting against a player they didn't want us to sign because that's what watching the NFL is really about - winning arguments on discussion boards.

I look forward to our first FA signing

May have fallen off a little, not the most amazing player in the world, but he knows the system and is familiar with a lot of the guys and culture in NE already. Worth something when you're trying to rebuild fast. I'd definitely kick him an offer.
I liked him as a player here. I don’t know what’s left in the tank : is Flores moving on because (1) the $ doesn’t work ? (2) because he’s losing a step ?

Interesting possibilities.

Does bringing van noy back on the cheap, ****** the development of our youngsters like uche for example?

In one year in MIA, Van Noy made 92% of the earnings he made in 6 years at DET/NE. Can't blame the guy for leaving. Anyone holding that against him doesn't have a clue.

Gave us great moments in 2018 postseason against KC and Rams.

Prior to this news, I was dreaming of a straight up trade to bring Van Noy here in exchange for sending Little Steven to MIA. Lol
