The Case to Sign QB Jacoby Brissett

Good God... could you imagine the amount of INTs Winston would have thrown with pure amount of **** we had at WR and TE? He may have eclipsed 30. Also, Massachusetts has some delicious crab leg joints. He’d have been arrested for a dine and dash before even setting foot in Gillette.
yeah he throws more than his fair share, but the big whopper was his first year under arians, who did nothing to help him with his play calling... he can throw for yards, can he learn touch though... thats the question

and Mass is not known for its crab joints... lobster pots and clam shacks yes... but crab joints?

He has touch. His decision making is horrific. That’s not something he can learn.

dont be silly. Of course a player can learn. Would he put in the work required though, is a fairer question.

That was certainly the rumor at the end of 2017 training camp prior to their trading him. Since then, Brissett has showed himself to at least be NFL backup level with the Colts. So the Patriots view may have changed since then, that they thought he wasn’t good enough to play in the NFL but his performance with the Colts may have changed that. We‘ll see.
I think Bill has always said how players do in another system is irrelevant to them.
It’s how will the player do here in the role they feel best has the players strengths and weakness.
I don’t think Bill brings him back but I could be wrong.
To me this is a very boring singing and would rather have Cam if those are the 2 options.
I’d love Jimmy or Marcus or even Trubisky over Brissett. Shoot I’d trade a second for Jordan love or Drew Lock
Rook wise
Wilson
Fields
Lance
Jones
Mond
Trask
In that order

bottom tier free agents Fitzpatrick or Alex Smith over Jacoby nothing screams mediocrity like Brissett as a stop gap til what?
When will we be in drafting range of a top QB the time to strike the iron is now.

A gambler is a gambler. Can you name me one gunslinger quarterback who shook that tendency at any point in their career? Especially in a career as late as Winston’s?

no, I cannot.

cant be any worse than what we experienced last year. Or under Bledsoe

Elway

Never went a season without double digit INTs. Even in his last two seasons when his yardage totals and attempts went down to accommodate a smash mouth offense built around Davis. I will grant you that he is the closest example to one who nearly beat those tendencies, but he still make a lot of bad decisions with the football late in his career.

I am fine with Brissett if he signs for less than 10M AAV and we can cut bait after a season or renegotiate an extension.

Right now I like Mariota's 10M contract or brining back Cam for the same amount of money.

I'd be OK with one of the above 3 plus a rookie.....

This team is gonna be better no matter who is at QB, IMO. We cannot possibly be worse with 60M+ of cap space, a full off-season, and mid round picks (except for that BS 3rd we had taken away).

I have absolutely no idea what signing Brissett would do for us. He won't win us enough games to get us to the playoffs, because he would easily be the fourth best QB in the division. He also can't elevate any offensive weapons we want to develop, because he won't be throwing enough.

Brissett took the captain checkdown crown from Alex Smith.

Imagine on the one play in the whole season that N'Keal Harry actually gets open - and Brissett doesn't see him and goes to the safe checkdown. Happened quite a bit when he was a Colt.

No thanks. Brissett is a scrub , he’s not a starting NFL quarterback.

Cam newton might be able to give you what Jacoby Brissett can just cheaper.

Brissett took a colts team from Andrew luck and threw 13 total TDs. His best year he threw 18.
And Rivers threw 24. It's their system where they want to run it more.

Cam (CAR) > Brissett
Brissett (NEP) >>>>> Cam

The Clots went from 39 passing TDs with Luck to 18 with Brisette because they wanted to "run it more"? with Marlon Mack as the lead back?

Stop gap until BB rebuilds the defense & acquires more talent, to then be a QB away from contending.

That's not happening this year. Anyone that thinks the Pats are making the playoffs this season betterget ready for major disappointment.

They ran it more because of Brissett. They also ran it 459 to 552 passes with Rivers, a much better QB. 20 rush TD to 24 passing TDs.

Cam threw for 8 TDs, yet people prefer to have him back over Brissett? Lol

The Colts "wanted to run it more" because Jacoby Brisette can't throw the football... Its not because there was a scheme change, like you implied... There was a player change, and that player sucked ass

Bringing in Brisette would be the same effing thing as keeping Cam Newton. (Which I do not want)

Brissett in 2019 played 15 games and only took 27 sacks. I'm hopeful he got the ball out faster
