Carson Wentz traded to the Colts

another QB for coach Bill off the board...say hello to Cam Newton, #1 in your program and number one in your hearts, starting quarterback for the 2021 New England Patriots

I don't get what the Eagles did. Why fire the coach then if Wentz was moving anyways
That makes two of us, the thought was they got rid of Petersen because he wouldn’t commit to Wentz, maybe the opposite was true. Now they have handed the starting job to Hurts and they are still $47 million over the cap!

This transaction does take the Colts out of the Brissett sweepstakes. Maybe the Pats could bring him back.

More cuts on the way. Guys like jackson, Jeffery. They will eat dead money with those contracts as well. Talk about a mess. The saints and Philly really screwed the pooch when it comes to the cap. Those huge contracts came back to bite them.

Cap is crap, though, right?

It may put the Eagles in the Brissett sweepstakes, though. They just hired his 2018-2020 OC as head coach, and Hurts is definitely going to have some competition this offseason. Shouldn't be too hard to compete with them monetarily given their cap issues, though.

to be honest, we should not want anything to do with carson wentz.

does this Reset the price for QB's in the market? everyone assumed that stafford set the market with two #1 picks. But here the colts are giving the Eagles a 3rd rounder and what will be a 2nd rounder or very low first rounder.

And the fact that the 2nd rounder is a year out means it's effectively a round lower given trade value (i.e. trading a 1st rounder in 2022 is like giving up a 2nd rounder this year). Wentz went for a 2nd and a 3rd any way you cut it.

Tells you how lowly people thought of him. The fact that Indy got him so cheaply is probably not giving them a great deal of comfort.

Since the 2022 2nd is likely to turn into a 1st (Wentz has to play 75% of the snaps or 70% and make the playoffs, for reference: Wentz was at 69.5% last year)....

The going rate for a young and underperforming former MVP candidate QB with an albatross of a contract is now a 2021 3rd and a 2022 1st.

I am not so sure that the Pats shouldn't have been all over that myself. It likely tells me that the Pats' brain trust didn't think Wentz was even that good...which is interesting....

And hurts stinks.

I have never understood this logic, probably because it eminates from teams making stupid picks.

A first is a first. If it’s next year you get him one year later but keep him one year longer. It has the exact same value as a first this year.

IF Dak does not get tagged, things are looking good for us...SF could potentially sign him but it'd be more difficult for them. I think SF trades Jimmy for Watson ultimately.

Stafford only brought what he did because it was payment for the lions talking Goffs contract.
They would have paid less in picks if Goff wasn’t in the deal. They literally had to pay for the lions to take Goff.

Time value of money, Yo!

A 1st today is worth more than a 1st next year.

If we are going to have a 1-2 year bridge QB and build elsewhere, I'd prefer Brissett over guys like Fitzmagic, Alex Smith, or other vets.

I'd prefer Jmmy G, though, if/when SF cuts him, or Mariota in a trade. Both are likely a bridge too, but with some higher upside.

loo why wouldn’t Dal be tagged or resigned

The logic comes from teams constantly trading next year's first for a second this year.

I am happy with it. The trade price wasn't through the roof, it removes a team (arguably the most desirable destination) from the QB carousel, it means we don't end up with Wentz, and the ugly a** Eagles fans suck.
