Other than $ why would UFA choose NE over other suitors?

we're talking about new england here not old england....i live in san diego and can look outside my window at anytime and see some of the fattest ugliest women you've ever seen so i think everywhere has all types of women...
You should do them a favor. Fat chicks need love too.

I think it’s gonna be in the 180s. We shall see. Either way we will see some good players being cut. I just can’t see bill overpaying for certain players.
He doesnt have to overpay. He shouldn’t overpay. By definition it’s the wrong thing to do.
He will find $60,000,000 of value and this team will be back to 12+ wins a year starting in 2021.

This is an issue in the NBA right now too. Players control the league and basically don't want to be coached or disciplined. They want to be coddled and "have fun". You have guys like Kyrie irving who just takes off for "personal time" because he needs a mental break.

Imagine that going on in MJs era? I do think it is creeping into the NFL where guys want a "fun coach"

So you get these guys like the new guy in detroit who is an idiot. But he can rally the troops and have fun! But those coaches rarely win or it's short fleeted.

Eagles already fired "fun Doug pederson" and Pete carroll has come back to earth
People have been saying this for over 30 years. Surely once belichick has a single bad season everyone comes out of the woodwork saying see I told you all along.

And it is not a coincidence that the Patriots amazing have a LOT of salary cap space this year. That was expertly managed. BB playing chess.
It goes even deeper than that. He is going to import a strong core group of players in a season where the cap is 20 mill under water. Other teams will struggle and make bad decisions (whether to cut players or kick the can down the road with extensions) and the cap advantage the patriots walk into this year with will last a number of years. They will not need to backload deals as deeply so will not have the future issues other teams no doubt will have to create.
Then in 2022 when the cap normalizes he will have additional cap money to spend. 2021 is the start if the new dynasty.

I guess, the question is other than $$ when have players decided to go to another team for less than market value? Even the patriots I cant think of many free agents who came here who didnt get "market value" Gilmore was paid top corner market at the time, Amendola was paid top slot receiver salary. The only time we got guys for discounts was "question mark" guys who had to prove they still had it to get that next big contract. I dont count guys like hightower because he tried to get more $$ and the market wasnt there.

I honestly cant think of many examples. Sure revis came here for 1 year. but then the next year he went to the horrid Jets because they offered the most money.

Does anyone expect Godwin to take less than his market value if the Bucs wont go to that price?

Not expecting anyone to take less than market value. But if 4 teams are offering similar market value deals, how will NE fare as one of the 4 if the others are LA, SF, Miami?

Its ironic that when NE was a preferred destination we had little cap room to spend

BB shipped out moss right in the middle of the season . He still says he learnt more football in NE thanks to BB than he learnt before coming here. So this notion that people are speaking ill of BB is also overblown
That was 10 years ago...Ask Martysaurus Bennett's brother what he thinks of Bill...

Given the state of the roster, many see us having to overpay to get FAs to come here.

With an all-time sucky QB, against the hardest schedule in the league, the Pats went 7-9, not 4-12. And they have a ton of cap space and what is, for them, a really good draft slot.

If a FA looks at that situation and thinks the Pats are a crap destination, then that guy is a frigging moron.

It's not the same crowned jewel NFL destination that it was a few years ago, but it's not this crummy place to go. First-rate ownership, the GOAT coach, first-rate facilities, and the team wasn't bad despite all the people here claiming the roster sucks.

I don’t necessarily disagree when we talk about defensive player but when was the last time a top WR or TE free agent sign for a team with no QB or a QB of Sidham’s level?
for defensive players, the defensive scheme and the DC is important

The Bills last season managed to sign more than a dozen free agents close to 100 million in contract value. They were a wildcard team with questionable QB play. Also, Buffalo.

@jmt57 has done a good job already debunking this myth but I had to chime in. This isn’t the NBA.
agreed

If our QB is as good as Buffalo's with a system similar to ours, then we will have little disadvantage
Why would BB overpay when the supply is greater than the demand? Why would BB overpay when prices are dropping? BB will most certainly not overpay and he will sign a bunch of FAs.
Much of this discussion is semantics.

Whatever the cap is, there will be a market price for players. Some teams are fine with paying more than other teams to get the needed player. Some teams are more about value, and tend to pay less. The patriots have rarely been active in signing high-end free agents in the first week, noting the exceptions of Revis and Gilmore.

So, if the market is 20% less than "normal", there is little reason to believe that the patriots will, all of a sudden, be among the teams that tends to ignore value, and pays more than the market set by others.

Bill had a record number of opt outs with Hightower and Chung we we win at least 2 more Games.
This team will be a force next season I espect BB to take a more hands on approach to everything next season.
His reputation his legacy is being questioned.
This team will rise.
Chung sucks now. We did not lose EVEN ONE GAME this past season because he wasn't here.

BB has reputation as not being a players coaches and players do not speak glowingly of him. Crappy stadium. Cold climate. Popular UFA just said he would go anywhere EXCEPT NE. Matt Patricia is not loved by players. Brady years are over and they are in rebuilding mode.
THe one thing about bringing Cam back is that he is a popular guy amongst players and might help with recruiting UFA.
Feeling like NE is not exactly a preferred destination right now.

Mazz, that you?

I miss the people.

Cut you off in traffic and then give you the finger.

Hopefully, they are wearing thongs and twerking.

They dont have that on the East coast.

Would elite WRs and TEs want to sign in NE without a QB? Sure, the money might be great, but what kind of life is it never catching a TD. You just run routes all day Sunday for no reason. Myers never caught a TD.

It seems like NE needs to address the QB void day 1 of free agency. If youre Allen Robinson do you really want to catch passes from Stidham or year 2 of Cam after last years performance?

See again, you're projecting your own feelings on to someone else. I'm not affected by winter in that way. That is not a universal thing.

Unless you weren't being sarcastic, in which case I apologize :D

Well every season as a HC before & after Brady - except 1994 - has been bad, so...

Bingo.

Nothing else happens - NOTHING - unless and until Bill fixes the QB position, ASAP...and No that does not include re-signing Scam to anything more than a one-year, non-guaranteed, vet-minimum contract to compete for the #3 with Stid & Jake Dolegala...Good WRs & TEs will Not sign here if there isn't a better - Much better - QB already in the building.
