THIS is why I became a NE Patriots fan right away in 1960. We had the NY Giants shoved down our throats. I rebelled. Followed Jim Brown back in the late 50s.
Wonder why RI is an outlier? Old habits die hard with Boston stations still behaving like a Eastern NYC suburb in their programming.
Wow! I just said the exact same thing on the last page. I've also heard a similar sentiment expressed by @DarrylS in the past. You guys are old.

Trent Green, for starters...Another cup o' tea and I'll have a half-dozen more...

Very entertaining if you like your football announcing to sound like the evening news hour with Walter Cronkite. But each to his own - you might be in the fringe "staid but technically sound" sports broadcaster approval group. Hope you enjoy your cup o'tea.

I waited until after the Jets beat the Packers in 1969, then I realized that the AFL was the real deal.. originally a Browns Fan (BF father was a long time Cleveland Fan) that is where I learned about the NFL..

In '69 became a Pats fan, often looked back as there were often more "downs" than "ups", remained loyal since...

Jets didnt play the Packers in '69- they beat the Baltimore Colts in the SB.
I'm old too- but damn, bro- you REALLY old and so is @1960Pats since he liked your post. Both of your memories are shot.
Dont know how you could forget this- other than any Patriots SB, it remains the most important SB to any Pats fan who goes back to the AFL. And the only time in history we ALL rooted for the Jets.

The Chiefs shut those NFLers up for good the following year. I can still get a little heated thinking back to those early 60's years when the NFL crapped on the AFL and avoided playing them.

Soon after that the Dolphins cheated and were fined (a 1st round pick and a boatload of cash) for tampering to get Don Shula, king of the asterjerks, as their HC, and that led to their undefeated season and Shula's only 2 SB wins in 72, 73.

And then the Pats were robbed of a certain SB win (I say certain because the early game the day Dreith robbed the Pats in 76 saw Pittsburgh win but lose both Rocky Blier and Franco Harris) and the Raiders went on to win the AFC the next week and crush Washington in the SB. The Raiduhs only loss that year was a 48-17 drubbing at the hands of the Pats.

I remember it all like it was yesterday.

Guessing Boston FOX decided not to run the Brady game against the Pats game. Boston tv market ratings thing. They put the Bucs on people in Boston are gonna watch that game over a Pats team playing with a bunch of backups against the 2nd worst team in football. But Pats fans are more likely to watch a bunch of backups vs the jest over a f**king giants game.

Just my guess

I wonder how far Tampa will go. Assuming they win on Sunday they lock down the 5 seed and get a very easy first round match up. They should have no issue getting to the final 8. After that it will be tough. They probably need to face GB, but I think they match up well vs GB. Also, I don't think New Orleans will beat them 3 times a row.

I think they may well still represent the NFC. I just don't trust Rodgers to get it done and Brees hasn't looked good the past few weeks, like his arm is really losing strength and accuracy as the year has worn on. Happened last year too. The Seahawks could absolutely represent the NFC too. They are probably my pick to do it right now with the Bucs not far behind.
They already killed GB this season. I think their biggest issues are their Jekyll & Hyde defense and their head coach. I think Arians is completely in over his head. Reminds me a lot of Rex Ryan. He's just a clown. I have a hard time imagining them winning a SuperBowl with him at the helm. As for the Saints, they seem to own Tampa. Those were two dominant wins. I would love to be proven wrong, but I don't see Tampa beating them. Hopefully somebody else takes them out

Real men drink whiskey for breakfast.
Real men don’t need to conform to stereotypes and align their masculinity with what they drink.

It is very bizarre that the NYG would be so compelling. They stink. I don’t even care about « the path to the NFCE ». That division is the 2020 of the NFL : a dumpster fire.

It was a joke in response to a joke, bro.

Their path may not have them faced the Saints at all it would seem. Most likely get NFCE winner and then GB. I think the Saints get eliminated before the NFCCG by Seattle most likely. That would be the best path for the Bucs but I don't really trust Arians either or either coordinator. How far they go depends on Brady playing like TFB for the entire run and putting the team on his back. A tall order but also the only way they get to the bowl. Unless of course their defense catches fire which is possible like the Giants did in '07.

I think their defense has the horses to put together a couple of games in which they generate a lot of pressure up front. The main thing is letting Brady quickly go back to what makes him comfortable if the bombs away offense doesn't work from the get go. These Bucs seem like the classic team that can both beat and lose to anybody in the postseason.

I just opened a Tom Brady Forum for anyone who wants to discuss anything outside the thread for the sake of making some of the discussions a little easier to follow instead of one massive thread:

https://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/forums/the-tom-brady-forum.179/

This thread will obviously stay open and where it is, that won't change. I just wanted to give people some flexibility if anything comes up that you'd prefer a dedicated thread for. Since he's going to be part of the team's history forever and likely still has a few seasons left in him, I wanted to make it available for those who would like to have an area for that, so feel free to use it as you see fit. But again, it's just meant as an overflow for those who want it. We can also start another mega-thread at the end of this season and move the old one there, etc., that sort of thing. Whatever works best to make it easier for everyone.
