Oh great. Of all the great games to chose from most of the country has to endure a 6-9 vs 5-10 crap show. It reminds me of the beginning of my pro football fandom in the late 50's when I was force fed that crap and became a Browns fan. I'll pass.

That is why I haven't paid much if any attention to the national writers/talking heads for years. It is simply not possible to be an expert on 32 teams.

The local beat writers are much better sources, but you have to get your info from more than one of them. Too many are either over the top homers or over the top negative contrarians. Fortunately both types are easy to spot.

As for those that do the games on tv, there are some that do there homework and take there job seriously, and others that take the easy way out. For every Tony Romo there are three Dan Fouts.

I wonder how far Tampa will go. Assuming they win on Sunday they lock down the 5 seed and get a very easy first round match up. They should have no issue getting to the final 8. After that it will be tough. They probably need to face GB, but I think they match up well vs GB. Also, I don't think New Orleans will beat them 3 times a row.

I think they may well still represent the NFC. I just don't trust Rodgers to get it done and Brees hasn't looked good the past few weeks, like his arm is really losing strength and accuracy as the year has worn on. Happened last year too. The Seahawks could absolutely represent the NFC too. They are probably my pick to do it right now with the Bucs not far behind.

Guy can be pretty damn intolerable. His brief moments of X’s and O’s insight can become completely outweighed by his constant ooing and aahing on every single call or replay. Couple that with his inability to shut his mouth and let the action speak for itself when the time calls for it. The current slate of color guys in the booth is pretty bad across the networks.

NFC playoffs should be interesting. I feel like the AFC is a two man race between the bills and chiefs. Steelers are done and will be one and done IMO.

But NFC could literally be Tampa, packers, Seahawks, saints, even rams looked good at points.

Ahhhhh........the "clairvoyant" Tony Romo......... able to predict plays before they happen.........quite the narrative.

Seems clear to me Romo has forsaken an unwritten rule in broadcasting: "Don't discuss what goes on in practice"

Instead, Romo recognizes a practiced formation and blurts out the play before it happens......then proudly basks in the adulation

Tampa would have to adjust and get the ball out quicker and make shorter throws. Washington has a pretty weak offense so Tampa should win.

The question is the stubborness of the coaches. Will they taylor their gameplan to the opponent or as Arians said "They can do whatever they want ".

Yeah the Bucs are a better team but it won’t be easy. The Bucs OL will still have their hands full. I prefer they get another opponent tbh. This matchup feels like a Pats Giants one and we all know how we felt about that.

Interesting stat: Brady is 0-2 as a starter vs Alex Smith and both losses were routs.

Tampa and GB are the teams to beat in the NFC.

Tampa's weakness is the inconsistency on both offense and defense. They may be leaving that behind but it is hard to tell because of their opponents.

NO finds a way to choke in the playoffs. They are all about trick plays, gadget plays, and YAC. Doesn't always work against playoff caliber defenses.

Seattle has a weak defense and hasn't played very good the 2and half of the season.

GB doesn't match up well against Tampa.

Lastly Brady takes it up a level in the playoffs, most of the time.

Not sure I would call the 2017 opener a rout when the Pats led in the 4th quarter and were only down 1 with about 5 minutes to go. They did give up 2 late TDs to lose by 15. Either way, I do think Alex Smith is a very solid QB and if he is healthy for the playoffs Washington will be a tough out.

Pats were never really a threat to win that game though that’s why I think of it as a rout. Chiefs were doing whatever they wanted on offense whenever they wanted. Helps obviously to have Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill.

THIS is why I became a NE Patriots fan right away in 1960. We had the NY Giants shoved down our throats. I rebelled. Followed Jim Brown back in the late 50s.
