OT: 2021 NFL QB Prospects List or 1st Round Discussion

I think a lot of people are sleeping on D Eriq king

Also 14 receivers last year taken all better than NKeal Harry. Sad.

But for the QB class coming up, I think there are players beyond the top3 who can be developed.
Ugh....that IS Sad!!!!

Spot on. And Cam has been a 76% passer with no picks the last 4 weeks. But Lamar and Cam don't fit the mental image or expectation for some

.

Cam is 81 for 117 over the last four game for a 69% passing completion percentage with 2 TDs and 0 Interceptions. Amazing how you post false stats in multiple threads. I would not be bragging about those stats.

The 2022 QB class looks good. I would wait another year for the QB. 2022 has guys likes Howell, Shough, Rattler, Brennan etc.

“There are endless options with the rest of the season yet to play out, but as of now Trask doesn't appear likely to fall out of the top 20 picks of the draft.”

Starting to look like there will be 6 first round graded QBs in the draft.

I’m a big fan of Trask....great info thanks!

While I agree he is a pocket passer. Wasn’t he one of the worst in the league last year throwing outside the numbers? Haven’t those numbers continued to be poor this season.
Throwing deep/outside the #'s has been an issue since college. It'll probably always be tough but it's not a deal breaker. Actual WRs who could do work in those areas would certainly help to. I mean throwing a fade to a 5'8 Brown might not be the most efficient course of action but I'm no OC.

He's always been a little bit of a project but every rookie QB is we're being objective.

This is more where i'm at. If we are going down the low 1st/high 2nd "pocket passer" route i'd prefer Jones who has a better arm and is slightly more athletic. I'd be interested to hear @BaconGrundleCandy compare the two.

I think my head would explode if we or anyone drafted Trask in the 1st. Miller is way more plugged in then me but he's not a 1st round pick in no way shape or form. And I actually like Trask but the 1st round talk is crazy.

So Trask is a grinder. I could see the Pats really liking him bc of that. He's just goes forward. Never too high or low. Tough to really shake his spirit. Cornerback mentality and forgets last play. Huge kid. Tough. At times he has been accurate but more importantly knows where to go with the ball. Honestly can't speak to his intelligence overall yet but he's on point for the most part. I like his decision making at times but overall, inside the pocket things have to speed up. He's a sitting duck back there in terms of mobility and will need to really work on footwork, core, off/on platform stuff. Things will speed up so much and he's going to have to as well. Arm is ok but has to get more comfortable and smooth on short/intermediate stuff. To many flutter ducks. He's a thrower, pushes the ball, not a natural passer. Very comfortable working the MOF. Has to work mechanics, ball security & pocket awareness imo. Consistency, decision making & toughness probably his biggest strengths.

Jones is solid prospect. Doesn't do anything elite. Doesn't have a great arm. Really good managing the pocket. Good feel & awareness in the pocket. Looks like he has decent feet and maneuvering around the pocket. Can throw with anticipation, he has to bc his arm isn't good enough to make up for being late. Won't break any records with velocity. Arm is good enough. Like what I see in the MOF from him. Looks good working inside/out. He's confident. Won't get scared by competition and moment. Will take hits to make plays. He's a gamer. 23 in Sept/year old rookie so there's still a good year of development.

I'd guess I have a round 3 grade on both, maybe slightly higher.

I also have a third round grade on both of them.

not a lot of starts from either of them and neither has enough arm to put the ball into tight nfl windows.

What about the kid from BC? Jukovic (sp?) or something like that. Is he projected to come out this year?

I won't know until I actually grade them in a month or two but it's possible one gets a 2nd.

I like him a lot. Been very good under pressure. Nice touch & general accuracy on passes that require some layering and touch. Really taken control of the BC job this year. I like him. Mechanics are a work in progress. I've been debating about adding him to my ptp QB list but holding off until he declares. I think he should stay another year.

Thanks! Can't say I disagree with either assessment. A lot of these draft guys in the media tend to list their deficiencies then say "but they'd be a great fit at the Patriots or Saints, round 1 pick!". I get we have good systems, but if we could make it work with these lesser guys, then imagine what we could do with a QB with more upside!

Totally agree. Hell no on Trask. Scouting report on Trask is he folds in any pass rush, has bad feet, and a below average arm. Plus you know the worst talent evaluator in the entire league Josh McDaniels would be all over pushing for another Tim Tebow bust pick.

.

While Trask has a few mechanical issues to sort out—again, he isn't a polished prospect—he has flashed high-end arm strength, accuracy and mobility. He has completed 68.7 percent of his passes this year and completed 69.8 percent against a good Georgia defense.
Trask carved up that defense, throwing for 474 yards with four touchdowns and an interception.
While he is mobile, he is not a true dual-threat quarterback. He can glide around pressure and throw from multiple platforms, but he would be most effective in an offense with a strong line and a traditional dropback scheme.

What team does this sound like?
