If Damien Harris continues...

Besides Dillon coming here via trade. Haven’t been this excited about a rb in NE since 1995.
Exactly, his running style reminds me of a 2004 Corey Dillon or LG Blount in 2013.

He seems to 'run angry' and you just expect him to get 3 yards even when nothing is there just out of pure 'pushing the defense back'.

After that, we've had too many guys that simply go down on first contact almost as if they are 'looking to go down'.

We'll have to wait for next year to see if this guy is different from the others.

Too many times we've seen guys have a great first year in the lead RB role, only to be a shell of themselves the next year.

This applied to Antowain Smith, Corey Dillon, Stevan Ridley, Sony Michel

Let's be clear. I want to keep both.

But, White is absolute MONEY on 3rd down, as long as he is paired with a good slot receiver like Edelman.

While Burkhead is more versatile I do agree...White is one of the greatest 3rd down back in NFL history and Burkhead is injured to much...and he is probably due...but I really hope that doesn’t happen.

How about we use Harris and Sony in the same game, with the same OL against the same D before we make comparisons and anoint Harris. If he keeps playing the way he has and stays healthy, then yes, he'll be the Nr 1 going forward.

That is not how it works. Harris got a chance and ran with it. It is on Sony to show some fight and gain his starter role back.

I don't want other teams to see Harris in there or Sony for that matter and think run. If Harris is now our lead back hopefully Sony can work himself into a dual threat as a pass catcher.

I'll preface by saying the run blocking has been very good lately and it will be interesting to see how Sony does when he returns.

With that being said, Harris is a bad***. He runs angry, but isn't reckless, explodes through the hole and through the blocks given to him. Harris ran over Queen and Wolfe twice which started to irritate Wolfe giving Harris a shove later in the game. The dude is going to be a star.
I am wondering if Sony is active on game days when he comes off IR. Which RB would not be on the active game day roster? Definitely not Harris who seems to have Sony's role and I cant imagine Burkhead or White ever being inactive. JJ Taylor has been inactive and may end up back on the practice squad if Sony is activated to the roster but it wouldn't shock me to see him as a healthy scratch.

Harris gets 3.8 yards after contact on average for every run. That means he's hit a yard past the line of scrimmage each time, since he averages 5.5 yards a carry. So people stop pretending like Michel would do the same thing. It's blatantly obvious that Harris is a freight train, an awesome running back who needs to be the permanent starter, he drags defenders and always picks up extra yards despite contact. If anything is a flaw, apparently he needs to work on pass protecting the QB if he wants to be a 3-down back.

Where are you getting those stats? I'd like to take a look at how other players stack up with him.

When Sony comes back, I don't think it's an either or situation. If the Patriots are to be a running team they can use both.
It is not clear whether I'd rather have Sony or Burkhead in there, with Harris as a healthy #1.

How much of Sony's struggles, though, was due to the fact that there were few tendencies as predictable as the Pats running with Michel on the field?

Harry lost his spot to Meyers.
That's flat out embarrassing and quite pathetic. Harry is looking like the undrafted free agent, not Myers.

I don't like this argument. Most backs are pretty one dimensional and are doing just fine. Blocking wasn't very good last year, but Michel expects the Grand Canyon to form in order for him to enter the 2nd level. Harris has way better anticipation of holes being created and explodes through them.

By that logic Edelman lost his spot to Meyers and Gilmore lost his to JC Jackson.
If you can't see the clear difference between Harris and Michel, then I don't know what to tell you. Pats also play many DB's/WR's on the field at the same time but, only RB is on the field.

I like Harris but can people chill with the Michel hate it's like some of you are acting like he didn't have 11 touches for 140 yards in the game before he went on IR. Why the hell wouldn't you want to also use a guy that could have a game like.

Has Harris or Burkhead had 140 yards in a game this year? And before you say it was the raiders, Michel is the only RB this year to have 100+ yards rushing against them. He actually had more rushing yards against them than 6 of the other 9 teams had total against them
