N'Keal Harry (lack of) Progress Report

Bentley & Coward both feckin suck, especially JaWrong.

And there's no feckin way that Billy & Nicky expected Cachoo to miss the Entire Feckin Season when they mistakenly drafted him...
They are among the best 5th rounders in the draft.
Of course they did. He was injured when they drafted him and it was well known he would likely miss the year.

Looks like Brady is fine now without McD and was also fine when he won his first 3 rings without McD. On the other hand McDaniels looks like a total disaster without Tom Brady. This season, in St Louis, and in Denver.

.
What is it? You love Brady's underwear or you hate McDaniel's shorts? You can cuddle both if you need them.

Quite frankly, Meyers is the much better route runner at this point than Harry is. He's really started to pick up on the intangibles of what separates a good route runner from a whiff.

This ^

Neither Harry nor any of the receivers can throw and catch the ball to himself.

Cam sucks... horribly. And Stidham pees down his leg when he enters the game.

The receivers are getting open and getting "separation," video evidence doesn't lie.
Winner just for the (so far) spot on Stid description

Most of the college highlight tape of Harry shows him making spectacular catches with guys draped all over him.

in the nfl, that will not work. There is no surprise he can not get open with us since he could not get open in college either.

Here is the same play, from two games a week apart. In both plays both Harry and Byrd get wide open.

In this first play ^ Harry breaks the defenders ankles like he was Allen Iverson making him fall down. Cam gives his best impression of a confederate general statue which needs to get toppled and does. It would have been an easy 45 yard TD pass for Harry had he thrown it... instead he froze.

In this next video ^ Cam gets the ball out, showing incremental improvement, but makes Byrd wait for it, leaving him no time or room to make a football move. The ball has to come out before the receiver makes his break.

Chatham and Orslovsky both did film reviews which show open receivers all over the field. Cam is a shell of his old self, and at his best was never a good accurate passer. We'll have to wait until next year, hopefully the Pats draft a QB high up and he produces. I suspect these same weapons will look much better. They've looked as good as Cam allows, they were productive in weeks 1 and 2 when Cam was rising... they tanked when he tanked.

It is difficult for the QB’s to trust Harry, when some of the balls thrown his way end up being interceptions and low percentage completions. At this point, he is a QB killer. There is always going to be cases where he is going to be open and the QB not see him.

Harry doesn't break the DB's ankles...The DB turned when he turned, and Then fell down...

And at that time, the rush was already on top of Newton. Tank Ass can’t get downfield quickly enough on those deep crossers.

How can you tell if Harry is progressing or getting worse?

All of this sounds like talented players who have never played together before and have had minimal time to learn the playbook for this year and practice together. It looks like exactly what you would expect from a collection of talent that has yet to become a real team.

What "talent"?

watch all 3. Two guys look amazing, one guy doesn’t. our Scouts really dropped the ball Here.

I have learned the following at Patsfans.com about the art of drafting a receiver:

The initials A.J. + any color = Win

But I knew that.

Harry will miss another game Sunday. Not only is he not worth a #1 round pick, this ****ing guy can't stay on the field...such a wasted draft pick
Not really sure how the offense will overcome this absolutely massive loss. They may come back down to Earth this weekend after looking like absolute juggernauts throughout the season.

I watched one of these Harry video minutes after NE drafted him .... and just now.
He hasn't gotten any faster in the video :)
His lack of speed vs the weak PAC 10 should have been the reddest of red flags.
In the rare examples when Harry ran free in open space, he was chased down with minimal effort by everyone; DBs and LBs alike.

(OT: Is Harry knock kneed? Somethings going on with his leg movement)

On the plus side, it is clear Harry does possess one skill that has value: strength/size/hands to win contested balls which should be of most value for a team like NE that has no legit end zone targets.
The problem for NE....getting the ball near the end zone.
Second problem........having a capable QB to deliver the ball in the end zone
Given the goal line play calling to date, NE has no trust in anyone....so....... QB sneak

Regarding Metcalf, BB likely felt "we don't value deep passes so why draft a premium athlete who will make our crap QBs look crappier when they underthrow him once a game."
I suspect Nike disagreed but didn't want to end up in Bill's dog house (see what I did there)
