Words on things I watched, read & heard

Man we are trending in the wrong direction everywhere...And yet Bill doesn't even bother to bring in any reinforcements...
I wouldn't either Capt. We're not a player away in Nov from the playoffs or SB.We have 11 picks I believe and need all of them. Assess the team going forward and plan accordingly. If anything I'm selling for more picks or future picks.

Agreed..Sell. The rebuild through the draft rarely works, but we have to try. 14 or 15 picks, roll some into 2022 to move a round or two and balance the rookie influx. Still have to solve the QB issue. I doubt Cam is the solution. If not Stidham we have a hole.

I agree with the concept, and as I stated in another thread if things go very, very badly in Barfalo then I agree that Bill should go full Randolph Duke and Sell, Sell, Sell...

...But I haven't been advocating a bunch of bank-breaker signings either, mostly guys coming in for a tad or two more than the vet minimum on one-year contracts...Because as of right now we don't have even replacement-level people at the WR and TE positions, and our front 7's nothing to brag about either...QBs here have been set-up to fail...

If we lose to Buffalo I'm throwing the NYJ game and going all in. They'll have 2 wins and still another one with us. Trevah in Bawstin Capt. It's happening. ;)

Violently agree that a DT who can 2 gap is desperately needed. Having Easley bust and Brown essentially bust is hurting them badly now (not that Easley was going to be that type of DT). Personally I think that's a bigger problem for this team right now than is the evident issues with Harry, though I certainly understand the agitation many here have about him.

I am also very concerned about the inability of the coaching staff to develop guys at the DT, TE, and WR position. It isn't just about drafting, in fact I feel it is more about not getting enough out of guys than it is about picking guys. I really wonder whether there is a big disconnect between who they have scouting and evaluating personnel and who they have coaching them. I'm not talking about BB so much, but more about his assistants. Let's face it also, BB has lost a lot of talented coaches over the years and often did a great job replacing them, but the drain on the organization had to come back to haunt them eventually and I think we are seeing that now. As I commented a few weeks ago, BB is really going to need to do some hard thinking about who he has on his staff and how productive they are at the development process. I won't be shocked or all that disappointed to see a major reorganization of the coaching staff be Step 1 this offseason.
Good post and fair points whether you agree or not. I do to an extent.

We have a rep for certain things. Being a smart, disciplined, tough team but coaches and FO did as well though.

Again though good points. Even though the prospects might not live up to pre-draft expectations, we should be getting a little more bang for our buck in some cases. Tough when you add in the effects other positions play. Injuries.

I'm glad Bill is at least, seemingly, well aware of the situation and planning accordingly with next year's cap space. And not buying, but again seemingly selling if rumors are on point. And not just selling but selling our best player.

If Gilly is on the table I'd gladly take a 2nd this year and a 2nd/3rd in 2022. Maybe 2nd, 2nd or 3rd and 7th?

*Edit*
I would also take, with a smile. A 2022 1st.

I would also throw in a 4th or 6th, with Thuney. If some team would give us a 1st or 2nd. Thuney + 4th for 1st or Thuney + 6th for a 2nd.

Does anyone know about this guy? C'mon Uptown? Or are you lopping softballs at me?

I like his awareness, feel & mobility in the pocket but he could clean up a few things and has actually. He's got better at not turning his back to the defense in pocket. Doesn't fall back as deep. He has a little hero ball in him but it's a good/bad thing and has improved.

He's been very efficient deep, short and intermediate. Showing good touch outside the numbers, pylon passes, deep and out routes.

One thing that always stood out and bugged me was the fact that Stidham had a hard time creating outside the confines of Gus's offense. The music stopped. Not the case with Wilson. He's a creator. Can work off script and has played great within a new & improved offense. Wilson is impressive in how creative he is sometimes. Shows good patience, small stuff that leads to big throws. Sets up his passes on move with creative footwork. Has good mechanics still working on putting it all together. You can tell he's still trying to tie in feet, hips & release together. Can switch up his arm angles and speed/arc.

Good whip. Flick of wrist for 40-50. Plenty of strength and velocity not a super cannon but more than good enough and strength can improve. Can reach far hash to boundaries. Drop it in a bucket. Live arm. Accurate. Touch. Placement.

Supposedly a film nut. Has been known watch himself to improve and his opponents. Other QB's. Has the body, arm, looks. Seemingly work ethic and drive.

Love his confidence and speed he plays with. I think you can do a lot with him. Tempo. Misdirection. I think he fits in a few different systems. Can run a few different things.

Played hurt last year. Will be 22 by the start of next season so he could easily sit if you wanted to put together a better situation than you might have or want him to watch a vet. Age matters a little and he still has a year imo. I want my QB to be taking over by 24 so hes on a good pace. I think he could play as long as you have a OL and creative offense.

Hes really made the most of this year. Really ceased the moment so far. I know some teams will love him.

I think I might have been the first to bring up Lawrence and Fields years ago and mentioned they're closer than most think. I really think NFL teams will see it that way as well. Fields has been dynamite even though Lawrence has been something we've never seen before. Some teams might prefer Fields. Some teams might prefer Lance or Wilson. Than you have guys like Ridder. Jurkovec and others. It could be a great class. If I'm a QB with high stock and eligible. I'm coming out. Uncertainty will still remain and teams always want QB's.

Plus better for us!

*Edit*
BYU has a few OL'm that could end up here. They've been great this year from T to T. I could see us with any of them.

BGC I'm always interested in your opinions. Would you give an assessment of Isaiah Zuber. Thanks!!!

Tough to say bc of such a small sample size but he moves with the ball in his hands. I definitely wished we would give him some of those short, quick out targets in the flat where the WR is responsible for making something happen more or less. Motion, reverses.

Again hes a mover, pretty fast and smooth, doesn't seem like he's trying awfully hard to run. He's an athlete. I'd put him in the backfield, have him shoot out of there. He's a piece you move around imo.

Wish we would see a little more of him so we have a bigger sample to look at.

Draft order - We were 11th coming into today. If the Chargers get a win we could be 10th although I'm not positive. Probably will start a draft order thread soon, tonight/tomorrow.

Like I said above (somewhere on the last two pages I believe), I don't want to win more than 4 games this year. We're about halfway through the year, 2-5. Obvious holes and weaknesses that aren't going away.

This isn't like a few years ago. I've never suggested we're down or should tank in the past. I'm not suggesting we tank now but again I'm hoping for a 4 win year. Wouldn't bat an eye if we didn't win another year. I've had a lifetime of wins and memorable moments from this team.

These next two drafts are crucial. Must wins for Bill if he wants to go out a winner and surpass Shula's record. Get as much ammo as you can. It's his final stand and judging from recent comments he knows it.

I still want Thuney here long-term. Make it happen if you can. He's a great player. Knows what's expected and a big piece to one of our biggest strengths. I'd move almost anyone for the right price though.

From a draft perspective this is a tough year to try to look ahead from.
1)multiple big holes - QB, WR, LB, DL, potential OL/DB. Its not like it's depth concerns. One could argue we don't have a QB, WR, LB, DL 1 ... like no feature at any of those positions.

2)mentioned it before and during the year. We have no base lol. What type of player are we looking for going forward? I'm not completely lost here but this truly is an interesting year from a team perspective. For several reasons but one stands out.

A)Bill was always a spread the talent around type guy. He wouldn't create a super-group with assets despite other positions. He'd make sure we were balanced throughout. The fan in me always wanted to do this but obviously that's not the right approach. We'd always have strengths like everyone else but we were always balanced in all 3 phases of the game.
This year we have a very good - great OL. Secondary is good enough but a lot is being asked, too much. We're thin at WR. Not using or utilizing our TE. They have a combined 6-7 catches? Idc how hard a system is or how much we need them elsewhere. We have to get more out of the position. It's incredible, we like 15 rec in the last year 1.5. WR needs no explanation. Same with DL/LB.

It's been a multitude of things. Bad drafting, to a lesser extent roster management, player development. Covid hasn't helped either. Every team is deal with it though.

This stands out though. We're not as balanced or versatile or deep. Again just a different team than we're used to seeing.

QB is everything. You have a legit top 5-10 QB and you're ahead of 90% of league. Build around him the best you can and take your shot.

If Parsons is available when the Pats are picking, you snag him without a single second of hesitation. An athletic, sideline-to-sideline LB to pair with Uche, and then a fresh Hightower back from a year of rest thumping, that'd be huge.

You saw how much Uche's presence alone helped - singlehandedly got them off the field on 3rd down on two separate occasions by himself.
