NFL's "fake" season 2020

Look Jed, it's well established you're slow on the uptake. But like fellow brainiac the Bucs fan you'd be well served to venture into that bewildering realm of discernment and critical thinking where things like "facts" and "details" carry enough relevance to prevent you from mindlessly idiotic responses. For instance, considering the difference between "reason" and "excuse" via the OP and subsequent thread posts. Don't worry, your brain won't overheat and you'll save yourself a ton of . I assure you that things will

Pajama boy.

Blaming covid for all the Pats problems is moronic and pathetic even for you. You need to Man up and grow a pair because the hard times for this franchise have only just begun. Take my advice. Lock yourself down in a safe space and ride these next several days out. It's gonna be ok.

The only one embarrassing themselves here is you. If you took a brake from the personal attacks, you would realize that no one here believes you would have made this thread if they were 5-1 or 6-0 and in first place. Even you can't bring yourself to say that.
Personal attacks? Pot meet kettle. Elsewise the argument you're attempting to make is irrelevant. You're straining to cast my premise as excuse-making and it just doesn't work. Give up while you're behind.

Go ahead and answer the question: Would you have posted this same thread if the Patriots were 6-0 right now?

Perhaps, since it's a league-wide issue. But your attempted argument re. the Patriots' disadvantages from the pandemic is nonsensical -- like saying I would not have complained about the newspaper getting wet had it not rained this morning. Are Covid-19 issues exclusively to blame for going 2-4? No, I never claimed that.

Aw, now dagnabbit Jed! You know I never said that.

Would the OP still label this season "FAKE" if that Pats record was 5-2, and in 1st place in the division? I would guess prob not.

Ehhhhh...I knew this season was an asterisk season regardless. It's obvious this was a weaker roster but I held out some hope that maybe the Pats could pull one over on teams. If they won the Super Bowl, I would have realized it's a bit asterisk worthy but would have taken it, no question (especially since it would be #7). The fact that a Super Bowl win looks pretty unlikely at this point doesn't change the fact that this season is unusual and that whatever outcomes teams have this year isn't necessarily reflective of where they're going in the future.

And no, having Brady on this team would not make it much better. Having Brady's current receiving corps? Yeah...that'd be helpful.

It would better than this with an all in Brady for sure even with the current receivers. The state of the Patriots today has more to do with the players they have than with covid, though obviously it has an effect as it does with every team....maybe a little more with the Pats with all the opt outs.

Cornpop

1. From the cancellation of preseason games to key players opting out and beyond, = Patriots

2. I knew this would be a season not to be taken seriously. Roster and lineup holes from guys testing positive for Covid-19,= Patriots

3. teams getting shut down and shut out from practicing, = Patriots

4. games rescheduled, travel altered, team meetings held virtually ... = Patriots

5. Also no fans in most stadiums where recorded cheers and boos go over the PA = Patriots

-- pretty much EVERYTHING about this season seems slipshod or half-assed. And the Patriots have become poster boys for why pro football doesn't work well during a pandemic.
Would New England still be 2-4 without the virus? Maybe, but I doubt it.

You whine and run down a litany of covid related excuses as the reasons why the Patriots are not winning. In fact, you were dumb enough to let us all know that you doubt that the Pats are 2 - 4 with no pandemic. Get this Chauncey.

1. Cam missing a game because of the flu had ZERO to do with Hoyer forgetting what down it was and Stidham no where near ready to take over an NFL team.

2. The Hightower opt out has had no effect on the NE LB corps. Despite your crying about a shortened practice, the replacements are playing great and the LBs are not the problem why NE is losing.

3. The loss of Mason has not decimated the OL. Mason has been in and out of the lineup through his career. The Pats are used to a revovling door at RT.

4. The fans absent from games is hilarious. I do not watch the games to see folks like you gripping a hotdog in one hand and funnel cake in the other while your belly hangs down to your knees.

5. The Covid didnt cause Harry and the rest of the NE WRs and TEs to be JAGs which is the real reason why the Pats are 2 - 4.

Jed, you've wasted a lot of time here reconfirming your inability to conceive this thread's initial premise. Are you laid off/out of work? And labeling Covid-19 "the flu" is telltale, your willful ignorance just never ends.

Bull. You’re not fooling anyone here, except maybe yourself.

But yeah.... I’m sure the fact that you made your post that this is a “fake season” after NE’s worst 3-game performance this century is just a coincidence..... I’m sure if they were 6-0, you’d be saying the same thing.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think the NFL and the players have done a pretty good job all things considered. It's a different season for sure but this whole thing sounds like whining.

"Bull"? What happened to "with all due respect"? That didn't last long. As someone likely used to being fooled you're understandably wary, but rest assured I was on the level just as you insist on comparing apples to bananas.

Covid did not cause Stidham to be a Stiff who has a 47% completion rate.

Covid didnt reek havoc with the NE WR corps because you cant make them any worse.

Havoc smells bad? I suppose that's possible, but how do you know?

Pinkhat

The definition of an excuse is a reason. The premise is that the OP is a dunce.

NJ just put MA on the restricted list.

Maybe the fan bases of both teams will luck out, and the game will be canceled.

I mean how can the Pats fly in and quarantine for 2 weeks before the game?

The NFL would probably be doing football fans a favor in cancelling the game.

The Pats need another bye week so it's important the game be played. An easy way around the travel problem is taking buses vs. flying. The Patriots can drive in backwards and tell everyone they were just leaving.
