Injuring the poster boy of the NFL on the team that is the best possibility to do what no other team has ever done in history?

I think he'd be looking at a one year suspension, possible loss of pension, death threats that would make Benazir Bhutto cower. Can't quite see the "upside" of gaining that kind of notoriety.

If the Pats were 9-2 or something, then maybe. But at this stage, it would be almost like a Mark Chapman deal.

I think that's probably correct. It seems as though everything they try to do to throw an obstacle in the path gets turned into road kill.

It's a bad idea to try and intimidate the Patriots via proxies like the media. You should do it on the field, or not even bother.

You are living in a dream world, if you think the NFL will stand up for either Brady or the Pats.

They have fined them for borderline stuff, and called names. Yet the NFL has let slide actual cheap shots leading to injury when perpetrated by their 'Golden Boys' = the Colts.

The Colt's player took a dive to Garrand's (Jags QB) legs (a penalty since Palmer, wasn't called), and hit him, forced him out of the game, and put his season on hold due to ankle surgery. No penalty, no hue and cry from the league or the media, and no fines (that I know of).

The face of the NFL, please, its Manning. Peyton, you know the guy who was a number one pick, from a prominent NFL family, on a classy team. To the NFL Brady is nothing more than a jumped up 6th rounder, on an embarrassing team, whom they will disown as fast as they can.

All this talk is doing is making it more likely to happen, and softening the shock/horror of it, so the NFL will get away with a muted response, and the media will say ... told you so. And nothing more.

Just like the NFL made the videogate scandal worse by leaving the Pats twisting in the wind for a week, and not clarifying that it was an infraction of the rules, not cheating, they are also setting up tacit approval of injuring Brady, by not taking a firm public stand.

This talk is beyond silly. Taking an opponent out at the knees is the cry of the media, the fan, Al Davis, and Bill Polian. Professional football players in 2007 (with the exception of borderline insane people like Haynesworth) do not think like that.

In the free agency era, many of these guys are former teammates and friends. They share the same agents. They go out to dinner with each other. They golf with each other. They make commericals with each other. They make appearances for each other's charities. They train together offseason and show up at each other's football camps.

The players are in the same union. Although it hasn't worked so well in the NHL, the workers don't intentionally try to hurt their fellow worker. Not because of some perceived slight or embarrassment. Even Haynesworth was responding to what he felt was a cheap shot against him.

Honestly, does anybody remember one player intentionally trying to injure another player for running up the score or some other embarrassing situation?

How about we leave this talk to guys like Simmons, Easterbrook, and fans with IQs lower that their pants size?
