The bucs won't have a bye until week 13. By that time there will be very few survivors.

When you're picking late in the 1st round, it's not smart to expend top draft capital on QBs, esp. when they are not going to play. In fact, I would say that we spent a lot on backups like Garopolo and before him Mallet when we practically knew they were not here for the long term.

Brady is the one who always perceived the backup to be a threat to his stature as a Patriot.

Plus it's hard to find a good QB as it is.

Look around the league. Who is a good QB who came out after pick #60 the last 2 years? How about pick #30?
Tell that to Green Bay. One of their best drafts was getting Rodgers while Favre was still there for 4 more years. Ditto this year when they went and got Love. Isn't Bill the one that said you can never be too early at drafting the QB position when he took Jimmy in the second? I mean if you don't spend draft capital on the most important position in the game then where do you spend it? 3 seasons is a looog time to find a guy. I won't go through all the QBs we could have had the last 3 years with our natural number one but suffice to say one was Lamar Jackson.

I don't think Green Bay is a good example of how to go about things (Rodgers was criminally dropped just like Dan Marino). We don't know anything about Jordan Love. He might very well go down as a total waste especially when you have Rodgers there. The vast majority of teams go year after year after year unable to replace QBs. The best Buffalo Bills QB since Jim Kelly is Josh Allen, and this is after spending 5 #1 picks on QBs for the likes of Rob Johnson, JP Losman, Drew Bledsoe, EJ Manuel, etc.

GB is the perfect example as they are also a team that drafts late in the first round and found Rodgers in the first. Great QBs can be found outside the top 10. Smart teams scout them and pick them and groom them.

Are you seriously comparing Belichick to the Bills? The whole point is not to go year after year with no QB. That is what the scout department is for and why teams have draft picks.

Rodgers was a once in 2 decades find. GB got lucky. We don't know about Jordan Love.

Look at the QB busts in the draft. There are so many of them.

So what is your point? Don't even try?

1167 yards
9 TD
5 INTs (3 pick-6s)
62.4%
95.8 QB rating
2 fumbles (0 lost)
2-2 record

1122 yards
11 TD
4 INT (2 pick-6s)
65.2%
99.4 QB rating
3 fumbles (1 lost)
3-1

If we are basing it on numbers alone he's been a marginal upgrade for Tampa over Jameis Winston so far.

LOL. Not according to Bruce Arians:

After the game, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians admitted even his 2019 team wouldn’t have been able to mount that kind of comeback.

“I can honestly say had this been last year, we’d have gotten our [butts] beat by 20 [points],” Arians said. “This team has a ton of character and playmakers. We started making plays and you can see when we don’t beat ourselves, we’re going to be a tough team to beat.”

Who in their right mind would have taken Lamar Jackson over Sony Michel?!??!?!

Well I know it wouldn't be a team with SB aspirations that needed a RB and then went and won the SB with said RB playing a decent role in the playoffs and winning the SB.

Don't bother posting numbers JMC00, those don't really matter. Honestly though, I do agree, I would rather have Brady vs Winston, not even close, but those pesky facts......

There's no way Tompa Boy would have put up with the Patriots drafting Lamar Jackson. Tompa's attitude was hard enough to stomach for one season.

Brian Hoyer has a bubbly personality and is loved by his teammates.

Tompa was seething at the presence of JG on the roster so I can just imagine what the dynamic would have been like with Jackson who was much more likely to be Brady's replacement than JG was. Not good. I suspect that was one factor why the Patriots said no to Jackson though they'd never admit it.
