Robinson has > 5 years of NFL production, and not the gravy-training "production" of Mo' Snuze either.

Is Robinson going to stretch the field with his 4.6 speed? Do we need another underneath possession receiver? How much does Robinson want for his new contract next year? I am guessing $15M+ since the Bears are choking on his ask. Is there another receiver we would rather sign with that kind of money in the off season? A 2nd or 3rd round draft pick in 2021 for a half of a season in 2020 seems a waste to me.

That being said I can also see how getting someone that opens things up just by being on the field could be a lot cheaper than normal because of COVID related cap issues. This could make certain players and their skillset suddenly value when in most other years you would not only have to give a big asset but then also pay the market price tax to keep them.

Cooks on his rookie deal -- and even on that fifth year option at around 8M -- would have been worth the money. But certainly not worth whatever the Rams ended up giving him.

After the ride that was the last couple years where BB consistently did things people didn't expect him to do I don't think it is a fools errand to take a look at adding another element to the current offense. The question really is if there is someone out there where all those things (impact on the field, contract, price in terms of trade assets, age..) align nicely and I don't think I see it.

I liked Cooks but he was relatively significant only bc Jules & Mitchell went out.

At the end his relative insignificance was sealed with a trade away and winning SB with WR group of Dorsett, Hogan and Patterson accompanying Jules..

As far as someone like OBJ (if he can still actually perform like a real football player) - reasonable opportunity is closer to trade deadline like you suggested..

See I think if Jules had stayed healthy Cooks would have had an even bigger impact in an offense that could have given 2010 a run for its money as the second best offense the Pats -- and actually the entire league according to DVOA -- ever had. But all of this is besides the point.

Oh I agree. I think this is similar to the AB situation last year where if there is an opportunity to get someone who can have a special impact in whatever role they have for him for cheap (thanks to the backdrop of COVID related cap issues) then its definitely in the cards. Looking through the Spotrac list of WRs on teams that might be going towards a top 10 pick around the trade deadline and have a lack of flexibility next year I have not really seen anyone that fits. So I am definitely not holding my breath for it. But one way or the other our great cap situation combined with the unexpected flatness of the salary cap next year will provide for some unique opportunities. Maybe even more so around the middle class that BB builds his teams around.

Fair points, which could all be valid reasons for Bill not to trade for him...He's still a significantly better player than Mo' is...
