Tampa should have taken a page out of Belichick's 2018 playbook and see what worked for Brady. Personally, I think the Bucs got too arrogant and thought that our lack of talent was the reason for his decline and that they had all the pieces that we didn't have like Godwin and Evans. What they should have worked on was improving their offensive line, especially one that was good at run blocking. They missed out big time when Trent Williams was traded to SF. He would have been a huge upgrade over Donovan Smith.

I dont think Brady wants to play like that. Hence why he went to Tampa. and the rumors that brady was not happy that he didnt have as much of a say in the offensive gameplan. I think Brady is very much in that camp as well that the last 2 years are because of the pieces at wide receiver.

Oh, I agree Brady doesn't want to play in a run first offense. He's too proud to admit he can't fling the ball around anymore. The Bucs should have insisted that the RB be featured in their offense when they signed Brady. But they believed the Brady camp that his decline was all NE's fault.

All those years, Brady was “What ring do I like best - the next one”. And then it changed. He had to be the focus of the offense. Now for years that made sense - he was that good. But when circumstances changed, Brady seemed to have interests other than merely winning. He wanted to win, but on his terms. The ultimate team player was no longer that. Why that happened still seems a bit baffling. I think he realized BB was ready for him to go, and he wasn’t.

Seriously this guy is such a ****ing clown. I get that the Bucs had nice weapons with Godwin and Evans but having to suffer through Arians' ****tery for 2 full seasons will leave some marks.

Ya. I'm also tired of hearing he's some QB guru

QBs that Arians has had in the NFL

Peyton Manning (#1 Pick) ('98-'00 Colts QB coach)
Ben Rothelisberger (1st round pick, had already won a SB) ('07-'11 Steelers OC)
Andrew Luck (#1 Pick) ('12 Colts OC)
Carson Palmer(#1 Pick) ('13-'17 Cardinals HC)
Tom Brady (G.O.A.T)

Guess people ignore his stint in Cleveland as the OC from '01-'03. Couldn't guru #1 pick Tim Couch into a decent QB.

This is why I feel like there was very little upside in him going to Tampa. If he retired, there would be a few people who would continue to call him a system QB. But now he's in Tampa he's got to play well or else everyone will say it was all Belichick, nevermind he's 43. Personally, I don't think Tampa was the right situation for him either. Their line is average and their coaching is a big step down from NE. If they can somehow work on Donovan Smith to improve, and Tom gets a little bit more protection, I can see him making some good throws. He's not going to be a 30 TD guy at his age. However, the Bucs defense and running game is going to have to carry him I'm afraid.

No question there will be that narrative if Brady is less than stellar this season and it's an unfair one imo. Dude is 43. But that's the chance he took going there into that situation - he really won't have any excuses in the public eye with a team like that around him.

Looking like that $10M Gronk contract would have been much better used on Williams. It is still too soon to tell with many things, but I just cannot imagine Gronk is still worth that much. Guy was essentially done in 2018. He no longer has burst.

his NFL story should have ended with beating the Rams in the SB........hubris prevented that

Same TB12, only older. "Weaponz" was supposed to change things. Football was supposed fun again, no more of that heavy discipline stuff slowing us down. End result is TB12 missing a bunch of throws, his new weaponz running poor routes, TB12 fixating on favorites and icing out others who are open and of course the general lack of discipline all Arians teams have.

How does time fix all this, especially with Arians throwing TB12 and others under the bus and Gronk having lost his breakaway speed?

It's not a victory lap. I was hoping to see TB12 enjoying himself playing good football and adapting to new circumstances, but he looks like the same grumpy and under-productive guy we saw last year.

The excuse was that he didn't have any outside weapons last year. Now he's got those weapons and from this game he struggled throwing it to the perimeter. Defense knew it, sat on all those inside routes and dared him to throw it outside.

Luckily he's not going to be facing a good secondary like the Saints every week. If the Bucs really want to make a deep run, Arians needs to make Brady a game manager. It's really silly for people to expect the MVP form at this stage in his career.

That would have been his best story according to fans, but Tom’s NFL story is written by Tom. He sees his exercise regiment as a religion of some sort...I can’t get into the hokey stuff but this is what drives him. He wants to play for as long as possible. I imagine that considering he has already conquered everything imaginable in terms of accolades and championships, this is the final frontier for him.

wait...where is everyone getting this "he struggled to throwing it to the perimeter" ? his deeps balls were pretty on point. if you watched the game, the challenge was the inside timing routes and the OL protection/familiarity. it was surprising given the strength of Tom's game historically. I dont forsee Tom being able to heave deep balls all season and sustain (see Drew Brees)

His throws down the middle are much better than his perimeter throws. I noticed the past couple of years his throws to the perimeter either move left or right or dip up or down. I can't put my finger on why but that has led to a lot of uncatchable balls. I mean, when James White and Julian Edelman can't even catch passes because they are off target, it isn't because they weren't in the right spot. That showed up Sunday in Tampa as well.

They have to do with McD did in 2018 - turn the Bucs into a run first team. Problem is their offensive line is not a great run blocking unit. They were only getting 3.3 YPC against the Saints. If Brady wants to win in Tampa, he has to realize he's a game manager at this point.

Tom’s most recent chapter includes catering to Yoko, a money grab, processed food commercials, and a joke team where he can play on camera splash pool footsie with another washed up money grabber/celeb

I literally thought you meant 2001 when you said that and almost had a heart attack

Yoko? She was with Tom for thirteen years in New England.
