OT: Brady “checked out” after Steelers loss in 2018?

LOL. No kidding. Folks have no idea how bad its gonna be when we complain about a 12-4 season because it was not pretty enough. Oy vey!
Yeah I love the "I am ready to rebuild and move on" nonsense. Some teams "rebuild" for decades so I am not so sure why everyone thinks we will just plug and play Stidham and keep rolling. There is a better chance than not that Stidham cant play and who even knows because the roster around him is pretty subpar. No one outside of a 34 year old Edelman at the skill positions and an O-line that declined pretty sharply last year. Combine that with some of Bill's recent drafts and this "rebuild" could drag on for quite a while.

But I bet it will be more fun.

Sure. It’s more fun in 2020 to watch a QB who won’t pout or have tantrums on the sidelines and lock his new receivers out of his circle of trust.

Then all the better the Patriots moved on and started the rebuild now. Not a SB team with a 43 year old QB who was only good for a sub 80 passer rating against good teams last year. No way. No how. No chance.

How do you know that? Stidham could be all those things and also suck on top.

Brady sucked last year. So can’t be much worse...

The better Patriots didn't really "move on" they got older and the new draft classes offered next to nothing.

If that’s the case then I think their decision to move on was vindicated. Clear as day.

Oh it can. A lot worse.

Nah not really. 88 kinda stinks.

Don’t know why people think JS4 or whoever it is will be running Brady’s offense. He won’t. This is a brand new offense now. Just like Brady didn’t run Bledsoe’s offense.

So Gronk retired because he knew Brady sucked but then followed him to Tampa? Cooks traded himself? Brady told them to draft a plodder RB?

I don't know why people think that Stidham can do what Brady did last year with no evidence at all?

What? What's brand new? The skill positions are the same other than the 2 drafted TEs. It is the same offense, same players.

Makes a difference when the QB actually will be throwing to new receivers instead of throwing a tantrum and freezing them out. That plus a healthy run game and OL. I expect to see a lot of the Patriots 2001 offense and that’s the way it should be breaking in a new QB.

Player A has won 6 Super Bowls, multiple MVPs, owns numerous records, and is generally considered the greatest player at his position. Player B is a slow rookie who got hurt. Somehow player A is at fault for player B. Got it.

As far as a "healthy run game" our plodding RB just had yet another surgery. Our best lineman may be traded by week one and our starting center's status is still not completely clear. If we are going to rely on our run game I assume instead of winning 6-7 games we win 3-4. This isn't 2001. The NFL is a completely different league now. It is designed to cater to the passing game. In 2020 NFL the pass sets up the run.

Tell that to the 2018 Patriots who won a SB off that run game (certainly wasn’t the QB) and to the Ravens last year. A great rushing game works wonders masking any holes in the QB’s game. We also have other options besides Michel too if he doesn’t pan out because of injury. Can’t wait to see it.

Also player A’s resume has nothing to do with player A in 2020. He was terrible last year. No reason to think he’d be better if he stayed as he is now 43. No reason to think he’d be in the MVP conversation as a Buc either. Wishful thinking imo.

He threw for almost 350 yards against the Chargers and Chiefs and there is no way in hell we win that game in Arrowhead with any other QB. Even in the Super Bowl he didn't play lights out but as always he made plays when he had to. The throw to Gronk was perfect and a few inches away from getting you a precious stat (a passing TD).

You seem to be getting more and more hyperbolic while speaking about Brady's 2019 season. Was he great? No he wasn't. He cant carry the the team on his back anymore like he used to which is why he was good and not great last year. He went 12-4 with 27 total TDs 8 INTs and 4000 yards passing. I wouldn't call that "terrible" by any means. He did that while throwing to the likes of Matt Lacosse and having his blindside protected by a human turnstile. I don't know if he will be MVP level again but I would guess he should have at least similar stats to last year.

Gronk is going to get paid for a season that is probably 4 games long

Oh it can. A lot worse.
Last year was the worst case. A team with no realistic chance to make it through the playoffs but a low draft pick for their efforts.
