Setting Stidham up for Success

We really, really need Damien Harris to produce as our clock-killin' closer...

Or someone that can get in the end zone so we don’t blow 1st and goal from the 1 in playoff games.

Stidham will succeed if he connects live with Edelman, Sanu, Harry and White. The 5th receiver may or may not matter much.
Mo' Snuze & Kneal, Harry might finish the year as our 5th/6th receivers (including TEs & RBs)...

Like Damien Harris, I hope...

Still shocked that Brady didn't sneak it on 1st/goal ...There was Nobody in the middle of the field beyond a not-so-tightly-packed DL ...

He coached 7 full seasons without Brady. Only two resulted in a winning record (11-5 which is below Brady’s average here) and only 1 playoff appearance and win. 7 is not a small sample size. I think Belichick is a great coach, but I think there is little doubt that the existence of Tom Brady made his life a lot easier and he had a lot of blemished covered up
Give Cleveland a rest willya. He DID beat a Parcells coached team in the playoffs and he had that team going in the right direction before Modell submarined him.

I don't think this was mention previously. Not that the following is super important but I'm bored and wanted to post something...

Patriots' Stephon Gilmore compared to Deion Sanders in 'Film Session'

"At one of the recent Patriots private throwing sessions that quarterback Jarrett Stidham helped organize with teammates, there was no center on the field, so Stidham was snapping the ball to Brian Hoyer. And vice versa. The exchanges highlight an important working dynamic between the two: They are fiercely competitive in hopes of being the successor to Tom Brady, but also sacrificing to help each other. Teams can't force a positive working relationship between their top quarterbacks, but with Hoyer's experience and top-shelf professionalism, it was never really in question how it would look this year in New England."

Also I've been thinking about the Hoyer re-signing. He probably could have stuck with the Colts if he took a pay cut....maybe? Or why not the Bucs? Didn't someone else need a backup? One reason he signed is because of the familiarity of the playbook...no doubt. But IMO there may be another factoid...coaching...

BB: Brian, your career hasn't exactly been littered with standout plays and awards. What is going to happen after the 2020 season if the team you are signed with decides you didn't live up to there expectations? Do you want to uproot your family once again just to be a backup and get cut once more? Sign with the Patriots and I can guarantee you a backup spot and then coaching as long as you want. We can provide stability.

BH: Ok

O'Sullivan looking in some depth at where Stidham was at in 2018 during the Iron Bowl:

Shows well why he was picked where he was picked and also the amount of cleanup the Pats had to do since then.

It was just uploaded yesterday to his channel.

How many people have bought a Stidham Jersey? Can’t decide between Harry or Winovich. Unfortunately, I’m not brave enough to get a Stidham one.

They really started to bear the fruits of Belichick's team building until Modell submarined him, as you so eloquently stated. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they stayed in Cleveland with Belichick. He chose a great coaching staff as well, I think they would have been successful, who knows if they would have won it all.

My next jersey will be an Edelman jersey. But I will wait until he retires. I have my own personal jersey curse going, several players suffered injuries after I bought their jersey.

Do all of us a favor. Please don't buy any more jerseys.

Brees is atop all the passing records, why does he have the worst arm strength ? Not true
Because they’re talking about currently. Not all time. Of course Brees doesn’t have the weakest arm ever. If you notice, all the players are currently playing. (Newton’s still eligible). Context buddy, context..

Exactly.
Tired of hearing BB getting hammered for Cleveland. That team he built won a Super Bowl 2 years later in Baltimore.
A bunch of his coaches moved on to success in the NFL.

He never had a QB in Cleveland. That was the problem. Not sure how he would have fared with Trent Dilfer or maybe he signs someone different. But it was always the QB holding back that team. It is still true today. LOL

Actually, making the playoffs in 1994 with the Browns and winning a playoff game with Vinny Testaverde at quarterback is roughly the equivalent, in coaching achievement, of winning the Super Bowl with Brady.

No it’s not. People forget but the old Browns weren’t a dumpster fire. They were in 3 AFCCG’s in 6 years before he got there. He actually was one of the worst coaches they had until they moved to Baltimore
