Players. Not coaches.

I think you're missing what's a good point though by that poster. If 70% of the players are black I think it's a little weird that super inexperienced white QB coaches are repeatedly jumping straight to Head Coach and only 2 of 32 head coaches are black. That does seem weird to me.

It wouldn't be the least bit surprising if whites simply wanted to coach more often than blacks do. There's also another subject/aspect which we're not allowed to talk about.

I’m not opening this can of worms.

However if this passes Mayo will be a head coach in the next 2 years for sure.

Whether you like the idea or not, there’s clearly an issue here that needs to be addressed. Need to find a way to get PoCs more opportunities whether it’s intentional or not that they aren’t getting them.

Percent of African Americans in USA: 12.6%
Percent of NFL head coaches that are Africa American: 12.5%

(Actual numbers)

I was going to post the same thing.

Really if they were worried about racial diversity they should probably, just to pick a random position, give improved draft position to a team for giving WR snaps to white WRs.

Do you hold the same position when it comes to the disproportionate lack of White players in the NFL, track and field, NBA, etc?

"Whether intentional or not" it should be fixed and seriously addressed... right?

No? Then shut up.

If white people were being oppressed then you’d be right. It’s proven that people are more likely to hire people that look like themselves.

You can talk about it here TBR. This is a safe space. Just say that part out loud.

There should definitely be a multi faceted approach to improving diversity, but it should never directly affect the rules governing fair competition on the field.

I'd like to see on facet be a grooming program. Whether it is implemented in high school, college, recruiting players that don't get drafted or have short careers or any combo of the 3 it could be a real "game changer". Probably way too expensive for such a cash starved organization. <----Last line is sarcasm

Lots of people scoff at the idea of increasing diversity, but I think there would be a lot less resistence if it was done in a genuine, thoughtful manner. Unfortunately, that's not how the NFL does things.
Honestly I think the profession is about competition and the cream rises to the top. I think the best man gets hired and opportunities abound. I don’t think you need a finger on the scale.

Idk Idk

Dude I love it. So if we hire 10 black GMs can we move up to the number 1 pick?

One of the reasons that this proposal looks bogus is that one of the Shield's most-favored ownerships, the Swampy Vagiants, just hired someone who appears thoroughly unqualified for the job, but you'll never hear anyone from Park Avenue bemoan that particular move...because the oh-so-wonderful Mara family...

This is hilarious.

And of course trade that pick for a collection of other non first round picks.

The Teams that fire their HC and or GMs are usually picking at the top of the draft anyways.

so this won’t really be a that much of an incentive.

plus it’s a horrible idea.

It would be funny to watch BB hire a new black GM every year and move up 6 spots.
