Setting Stidham up for Success

I know how he was traded left a bit of bad blood, but I wouldn't be surprised with a Demaryius Thomas reunion at some point if he remains unsigned.

I know it was just a preseason game and a finale at that, but last season in one game Stidham targeted Thomas 8 times. He had caught 7 of those for 87 yards and 2 TDs.

Small sample size, but there seems to be some chemistry and hopefully he is healthier now from his injury.

Plus I still believe Harry is better as a Z and that we should do everything to set him up for success as well.

Unless Thomas can't find any other team to sign him, I think there's way too much animosity. He said some pretty harsh stuff last year.

I'm looking over a 2020 QB prospect that is light on his feet and kinda reminds me of Stidham.

I really like that part of his game. Very springy, light, soft feet. I'm really happy for Stidham. He was worked over in college. Rarely do these stories have happy endings (Rosen) but Stidham landed in a perfect spot. Able to watch, learn under Brady and get schooled by Josh & Bill. Obviously has the confidence of the staff. Finally in a good situation. I think him and Harry will be best friends.

If we're trying to set Stidham up for success, is there any way to keep Sanu in the walking boot he supposedly just got out of? Just leave him in the boot for the season, and let absolutely anybody else take his place.

"Hating on him" because at his career best he was mediocre, and we gave up a 2nd for a 30 yr old WR who was slow in his early 20's. The guy was not worth a 5th, let alone a 2nd.

I'm sure "he's versatile" and he "loves football", but who cares if he can't move.

Let me be clear: if the Patriots seamlessly transition from Brady to another great QB, I will laugh so loudly and for so long that I might literally die.

Sadly I think that's a very unlikely outcome, and looking at both the history of the Pats, and the league in general, it's much more likely that they flounder for several years at QB rather than just nailing the perfect Montana to Young transition.

2019 Brady wasn't historically great, but I really think people are being way too casual about how hard it is to even find a guy to match late-career Brady week-in and week-out.

A huge share of this team's history was trying to replace Steve Grogan once he started physically breaking down thanks to eating terrifying killshots in the free-for-all 1970s, and failing over and over again until it was 1990 (when he was the only QB who could win a single beepin' game, STILL!)

I’d want to see at least two to three consistent solid seasons. And when I say consistent solid seasons I mean at the level to which we’ve become accustomed. Eleven wins or more. No big clunkers in any games. Deep into the playoffs, while always looking comfortably at home in the playoffs. All that as a baseline and then rising to the occasion with big games in big games more often than not.

Hard to pin win/loss on the kid but basically he should he replaced if over 16 games he can't put up at least 3000 yards, at least 20 TDs, and hopefully no more than 10int.
