Kraft to Advise President Trump on Opening Sports

In case you're wondering, that was me hitting the "report" button, not Tony. Slightly over the "personal attacks" line, for my money.

Haha. Not necessary Va. If you really want to help the situation maybe you could lend him a good joke or two. He's failing.

One dumbass advising the legendary dumbass of all dumbasses. This will end well.
Great to see the Great Minds of the cheap seats weighing in on this topic. (Not!) OBVIOUSLY the conversation will be about how the NFL can minimize the risk of spreading COVID19 and still sell their product. This conversation will be had with all businesses as the president works with merchants to safely put America back to work.

There should be no mass gatherings until this thing is figured out. I see NO EVIDENCE that we are making ANY progress in that regard. Kraft should keep to his day job.
Probably why they did not invite fans to advise on the matter.

Cuban, Jones, Kraft and the commishes from all the major leagues... and Dana White and Vince ****ing McMahon!

A neat little billionaire club will decide if people in the US should risk their life so their precious businesses do not lose too much money.

That's so frustrating.

Good luck my American friends, your leadership has failed you during this crisis.
So, if Kraft says there should be a game, then you MUST attend? This frustrates you? LMAO. Good luck figuring out whose direction you should mindlessly follow.

Slightly disingenuous don't you think?

No. I have respiratory issues, so I am careful about my associations everyday. I don't expect Congress or the NFL to look after me. If the NFL and the US Government come up with some measures that will make attending events safer, I will still consider my own circumstances before attending an event.

Sure but you're not everyone. And as we've seen trusting everyone to do their part doesn't work.

This isn't like HIV or Herpes in which only the idiots get their knobs whacked. It's a highly contagious virus that allows idiots to hurt the more cautious.

Personally I don't mind reopening the country carefully as long as we can keep the idiots in check.

So in other words opening up a beach or golf course in which maintaining social distancing seems relatively easy is much different than allowing seventy thousand fans attend a game because they're not worried about a virus.

The dilemma is with the players... Do you sit out or go for the paycheck?

Man your avatar pisses me off to no end

Tony I love you a lot and agree with the general sentiment here but HIV is definitely not a virus that "only idiots" catch. Or herpes, for that matter! (Hell you can spread the latter by providing a... well-received and loving lingual service, let's say, to a loved one if you've ever had a cold sore and they haven't.)

In your rush to excuse what you have absolutely no need to excuse using an inappropriate self-interest framework, you've missed the point.

The point is that you cant eliminate the additional risk to yourself, by yourself.

If you stay home and there's a surge in infections, unless you're in a specialized facility of some sort, you still get your food delivered or buy it (just as I was reminded in this thread.) Those who perceive themselves as vulnerable, like you, do what we can to protect ourselves.

Those who perceive themselves as invulnerable increase our odds, and their own. The only difference is, they happily ignore additional risk to themselves.

I appreciate TF out of the not-invulnerables who walk in to the danger, and work to help the rest of us, by the way. Just wow. Anyway, just weighing in to say it's great to say you'll keep yourself safe(r) by not attending.

But I wouldn't sugar-coat it. Holding the game loads unnecessary risk on you, and on me, and probably on half of the butt wipes so impatient to do so.

Oh well. Maybe Mr. "It could go away like a miracle, let's not do anything" is really really super super serious about the safety of others now.

I'm sorry, I think a monkey just flew out of my butt.

Sure but you're not everyone.

That's the thing, we're all part of everybody, both as risk-loaders and as risk-subjected.

Of course I can.

I avoid close contact with people who might bring harm to ME. I take the effort. Not them. I do not insist the world come to a stop so I am free to do as I please.

I don't understand your point. I happen to work with a guy whose kid is in daycare. He and his kid have been sick since he joined the team. I don't insist he stay home, but I do insist he not hang out in my office.

There is risk to gathering a large crowd for any event. Risk of terrorist attack, risk of infection, risk of getting killed in traffic on the way out of the stadium. I think it is a good idea for these people to discuss the risks and see if they can be mitigated. That is all they are doing. The morons who suggest they are doing something else are...well...morons.

Oh well. Maybe Mr. "It could go away like a miracle, let's not do anything" is really really super super serious about the safety of others now.

Can't disagree.

That's just not true. Risk does not treat all equally and the world cannot operate in a way that all are equally safe. At some point, we need to assess a situation and act accordingly.

I have a book of 400 items I am somewhat allergic to. When there is pollen on my car, I switch from white Russians to black. I do not insist the world stop drinking milk.

As far as I know, all they are doing is discussing risk and whether it is possible to manage risk in a way that will allow the NFL to hold games. No one has said that people should be crammed in a stadium. Did I miss something?

billionaires and their billionaire friends.
Hopefully they will listen to Dr Fauci during this planning period.
Kraft is bound and determined to get a virus. Whether that is an STD or the Corona, the man doesn't quit in his solemn duty.

On a more serious note, I can't help but (sadly) chuckle at the hubris of billionaires who believe their ability to exploit the average worker somehow translates to battling a contagion. Stay in doors people and let the wealthy host parties Edgar Allan Poe style.
