2020 NEP Draft Big Board/Draft

I’m thinking they have zero intention to take a QB early and are setting themselves up for a trade back or to pave the way to get the guy they really want if everyone’s thinking QB.

Yeah...but if for some strange reason he falls to #23...You have to take him there if you're the NEP...even if you think that Stid's the Kid...

I just hope that Bill doesn't do an asset-killing trade-up for him...or Especially Blake Bortles er Jordan Love...
No he makes it past the Chargers

I think it's entirely possible Herbert doesn't get a 1st round grade from the Patriots. If that's the case, they shouldn't take him at 23, or even at 32 via trade down.

They're going with Stidham unless something really dramatic happens.

it's not just the coaches, the players are going out of their way to praise the kid. 2020, if there's a season, is his. I'm almost certain.

Also pretty sure that there will be some major trades incoming, probably for draft capital/salary dumps.

IMO, even if we name Stidham to be the starter in 2020, we need an addition QB, from the draft, or from free agency. We should NOT have Hoyer as our only Plan B in the preseason and for the season.

Yes, this happens every single year. Supposed predictions that the Pats are "in love" with this high profile draft prospect or "that one" and of course they never come close to picking that prospect. BB never leaks ...ever
so ignore all these BS rumors about who they love.

In the end they will stay put or trade down and draft a LB, OL or DL
Its as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning

Stidham's totally unproven at the most important position in football. Even if they decide they're comfortable with giving Stidham a go, the median outcome for a 4th round quarterback on an otherwise mediocre offense is... not great. They'd be smart to draft a guy, even if it's a later round developmental player, but there's no reason not to take a QB who they've graded well in the 1st if he falls into their lap either.

There are 4 first rounders and 4 more that will likely be draft by the end of the 4th (so in the same range as Stidham last year). Unless we are signing a veteran, I would be surprised if we don't draft a quarterback before the end of the 4th. Looking back, Belichick has drafted a lot of quarterbacks, even though we had the GOAT as our #1. With Stidham as our #1, the need is even greater. Now, we can use a QB for competition, and to be at least the backup in 2021.

Pretty much this. Having QB1 and 2 in good shape never stopped this team from taking a QB in the first few rounds, so this year shouldn't be any different. Twice now, Hoyer has been the placeholder for a rookie who took his spot as the primary backup (Mallett and Stidham). Could be that again.

Also, it wouldn't be terrible if we kept Hoyer as a #3 QB if one of the other two was ready to be a backup for 2020.

Is it your position that Belichick never moves up in the first? I suspect that he has moved up as often as he has moved down.

As far as rumors being BS, of course we should ignore all rumors.

Think guys like Harrison, Baun might be able to eventually play a KVN type role. Even if they don't fit that specific role, they're our type imo.
Look at Brooks, Bailey to fill a guys like Roberts.

Queen & Wilson are very interesting prospects and would give us something extra ... potentially.

Have wondered a few times if Chaisson could resemble Collins in any way? Idk I just thought he kinda fit in that role. Definitely someone rushing the passer more than Jamie. I always wanted Collins to attack the los more. Chaisson is a much more developed pass rusher. 3 down player.
As a rusher he has a little bit of everything. Power, finesse. Speed, quicks. Ability to burst, time and anticipate the snap. At times he really showed he knows how to use his length.
Like I said he explode off the line but has really good short area skills. Laterally, stop/start, backing up. Decent instincts. You can really move him around.
I wonder just how versatile he could be in a system like ours. Anyway point is he could definitely be in play for us. LB/Rush. Very intriguing prospect.

Great thread on CEH. He's slow but has some elite traits. + footwork, ability to set up his blocks. ++ pass pro. One of the better rec RB's to come out over the last few year's. Which is saying something. I remember 4-5 years ago saying the NFL was about to become filled with crazy RBs and they're still coming. Only thing is the WR/TE are catching up. Next few year's the NFL will be over ridden with rec talent.
Anyway Moyer is a great follow. Smarter than me when it comes to x&o, coaching points. Worth a read.

CEH just missed a 2nd round grade for me. Happy with where he's at. Think he'll be a round for a long time barring injuries. Super young too!

He’s got that Kamara always make that first guy Miss type ability. Kamara was overlooked (Even by butch jones) and Clyde will be too.

I really believe CEH will be great. Been on his D for months no homo
