Another reason - as if we didn't need any more - for Bill to stay away from WRs & CBs in the first round this year...let the other teams figure out the order and see who shakes loose during the 3rd/4th rounds...

Very good to see. His movements look clean & efficient. Didn't see any laboring, hitches or anything to suggest he's not on track. Ball didn't have a ton of zip but that's to be expected. This was probably the first time he's thrown this many passes at this pace in a long, long time. Not bad. Again big news here is his movements. They look clean and easy.

Mike Lombardi says there are a few teams who did a medical exam on Tua and says he's way too brittle. Do you see him dropping and is it a concern?

I don't think he drops past 5-6.

When it comes to injuries I try to learn as much as possible about the injury without making my head hurt. I'm not a doctor, don't want to be one, so I'm just getting general stuff and things that might pertain to it (chances it reoccur, type of break/sprain etc). I'll ask around what others think and have heard.
From everything I've heard, he's on schedule and looks good. I trust a few Bama alums that aren't super douches but truthfully there might be 10-15 people on Earth with enough info to make a real informed guess.

Not discounting or discrediting what Mike said. I saw it already, I just don't know how much stock I put into it. Certain things he brings a lot of info and insight. Other things not so much.

In any event, Saban would tell Belichick about how durable Tua is...if BB were actually interested.

Starting to buy into Jordan Love. I think he would need to sit behind Stidham for at least 1 year, work with him and Hoyer and then re-evaluate. Maybe let them compete in year 2. Ceiling seems crazy high and seems like a good fit, but needs work. Just wonder how high other teams will try to take him. Too pricey to have to trade into the top 5, but top 10? Does LAC try to take him at 6?

I'd love to get him mad. I wanna see Jordan Love upset. Had everything going for him and then it was gone. Want to see him have football taken away for a year and really fight, show what he has. A year sitting might do that.

And Yea his ceiling is as high as anyone in the class imo. Couldn't imagine him behind LSU/OK/UG OL and those weapons.

I think the Chargers and Dolphins take Tua and Justin Herbert in whatever order. I would worry about Jax or LV taking Jordan Love.

Hate saying it but in some way, shape or form. I have a feeling we'll be dealing with this all year. Even if it flattens out, on a small scale, things will still be different I imagine.

Trustworthy contacts, friends will be key. Definitely uncharted territory in a lot of ways. I'm sure most smart teams will capitalize in some ways.
Smart teams take advantage of turmoil. The Patriots are smart.

So I know everyone is wondering how C19 will effect the 2020 draft. Teams will be ok this year. Pro days got squashed but you have enough info to make reasonable assessments.

I think it could effect 2021 more. By now scouts are usually getting ready for spring/summer scouting. This is actually a critical time. This is when you're getting info of guys who will breakout. Who came into spring/early summer in shape or not. Guys that are standing out, prospects coming out of left field. It's an important time. Watching players and talking to coaches.
I could definitely see people/scouts being behind on some prospects until late next year - throughout the draft.

If I am bb, and I know the draft will be virtual because of c19, I would drive over to Cambridge and get an army of mit computer Black hats/geeks and have them hack this draft. I give them one objective. Make sure tua falls to 23.

the rest of the draft is then gravy!

Thanks for the link. Just increases my reservations about Love in the first round. Don't like the combination of accuracy issues + high interception numbers. You obviously watch much more college tape than me, so just wondering, if Love is available at 23, would you take him with that pick?

You're correct to have reservations. I didn't notice it during the year as much but really towards the end and really when I started to look at him for eval. He had trouble reading, crossing reads in the MOF. Eason did as well. Lots of half field concepts. Both ran concepts we run though so at least they're familiar some stuff although pretty much everyone steals/borrows from everyone else.

Anyway back to would I take him ... 60/40 - 70/30 yes. Hate to give you that type answer but I'd be lying if I told you I'm all in. I was all in on Jackson. Its definitely inside Love but you need the right guy to pull it out of him imo.

Again I think making him sit and catch up to Stidham would light a fire under him. Just what he needs. He's very young. Won't be 22 until Nov.
Perfect fit for the EP imo. Coach him up. Let him exploit matchups. Use his wheels to pick up easy yards after spreading it out. Familiar with some of our stuff.
Crazy arm talent. Velocity, accuracy, touch & placement are legit. Easy flames. Arm isn't Mahomes. Or Josh Allen but a tier below. That's still a tier above 98% of the guys in the game when you talk about peak throws. Besides you just need to have a "good enough" arm. But he has the ability to make throws most can't. Its pretty sweet. Tight window dime. 50+ bombs. At times showed great patience and trust in his teammates.
Doesn't have to be super hero-like.
Very good at throwing on the run. Very comfortable. Great timing. Great job leading his WRs at times.
Looks the part in all aspects.

He really could benefit from some veteran leadership though. Someone to grill him besides coaches.

His eye discipline was bad last year. Man, zone he really wasn't good. Lazy. Has to really show he can win besides his talent. Use your eyes. Use your feet. Has to slide quicker. Has to do everything quicker. Anticipate and get going.

If he was in the locker room and I'm a coach I'm pointing to Stidham and saying there's a guy that plays with a sense of urgency and doing everything full speed.

He needs consistent coaching and trust in them. Lost staff and players last year. This will be basically his 3rd new fresh start. That's why a reboot so to speak sitting for a year isn't the worst thing in the world.

So Love sucked this past year but so did Stidham in his year. I always keep "it's what a prospect can do as opposed to what they can't" on a loop in my head. Love sucked but he showed he's capable with + arm talent. You bet on arm talent.
And no matter which QB you're drafting you're gambling this year. A little more than most imo than in previous years. Gamble on Burrows one year. Tua's health. Love's upside. That you're getting the good Herbert and have the right system for him (vert/power run) Gambling on Eason all together. Or you gamble on a Morgan, Gordan, Hurts etc

If we were to acquire Love, somehow. That would be quite the QB room. Quite the young duo. That alone would be a small success of sorts during these unfamiliar times. Getting Stidham and Love to mold and coach up. You could do a lot worse.

Sorry for the rambling.

There's a thread in the draft forum about Queen or Murray and I swear by the old gods someone sent me a pm 2 days ago asking that exact question.

Honestly both are fits in every way imo. I think their games and personalities are perfect for here. To answer the person's question I leaned Queen even Murray graded higher, by the smallest of margins btw.

Anyway Queen just has something about him in terms of potential. He's so new the position (former RB)
His recognition skills are just crazy for a young player. Dude plays like he knows the call. Click & close. Very little hesitation. Easy fast mover. Big time athlete. Kept his contact balance from playing RB when dodging traffic.

Very rarely beat or fooled. Almost always there before blockers.

Plays with great patience, balance & movements whether hes in coverage or playing the run. Not quite Murray coming down hill. He's a wild man but Queen is good enough and obviously can improve. He's not bad but could improve.
He's been beat in coverage a bunch. Even if it didn't result in a play on him but he's also made some great plays. Comfortable. Knows and wants to make a play there. Big time want-to, to become great.

All year I thought he was a PTP & dark horse at 23. Still do. His upside is that good/big.

Chassion Too as well as Murray & Baun.

This is actually a pretty good LB class. Top heavy and deep.

I'd think this is a less than zero shot that the Pats get Tua Love or Herbert in this draft. How many times have we forecasted "if this player falls to us the Pats need to take them" and they trade back? Herbert might be there at 23. Pats will trade back. Stidham is the guy.
