Ian Eagle and Fouts were the #2 team? Every time I thought of them I thought they were the D list team always getting the worst games.

Trent Green is a pretty decent color guy, he’s be a fine choice to replace Fouts. But as I said in the prior post, why not just promote the whole Gumbel-Green team as the #2? They’ve got on-air chemistry already and both are worthy of the spot individually.

I can't even bring myself to agree with your first sentence. I can't count the number of times Fouts said something that was so nonsensical or flat out wrong that I wondered if he'd ever seen a game.

Yeah, one of the more prominent incidents was when Sefarian-Jenkins fumbled through the end zone, it was correctly ruled a touch back and Fouts lost his mind. An underrated moment from that game was the Jets went for it on 4th down, threw an incomplete pass, and then, when the Patriots took over, was confused as to why the Jets weren't given the opportunity to punt.

Greg Gumbel should replace Ian Eagle as the number 2 play by play...

Unfortunately it seems that Greg is on the back nine of his career. He’s older than you would think. Was once the #1 at CBS but now is #4 I believe.

Greg’s my favorite, but I doubt they re-promote him.

Gumbel was the number 1 guy 15 years ago until he was replaced by Nantz. Never thought Nantz was a huge upgrade; Gumbel seemed perfectly reasonable and better than Fox’ number 1 in Joe Buck. Why he then got demoted to #3 is beyond me. His brother was a bad NFL announcer, but Greg is pretty decent.
