2020 NEP Draft Big Board/Draft

Scenario 1: Pats/Pats players are saying they have confidence in Stidham. It may be a smokescreen if they believe there's a QB they really like and are hoping if he drops that no one will trade up in front of them.

Scenario 2: They (front office) DO believe Stidham is good enough to be the starting QB this year and they'll see if he performs well enough to be their future QB. If he doesn't perform well and the Pats are a below .500 team then they can target a QB in next years' draft. There's 3 or 4 that could go in the first but that is too soon to say, except for Lawrence and Fields.

Edit: this is in regards to BTTA's post above.
Also, I believe if they don't take a QB in the first they will surely draft one later in the draft. Be it Eason or Fromm in the 2nd or someone like Hurts, Morgan or McDponald a little later.

Bills don't have a 1st rounder this year so not sure how they'll acquire him without a trade into the top 20.
Yeah that's anyway not really their biggest need. Just wanted to say that i would like to see him playing for us and hate to see us play twice against him..

Many posters seem to believe that the highest need translates to the highest draft pick. This is often not the case. For example, if our top need in at center or guard, it still may be right to draft that player or players in the 3rd round.

Yes, if there is a top need, that need should be addressed in the draft. However, if Belichick believes that choice early are of low values, he could us a lower pick and wait for trades and free agents. Personally, I believe a top need justifies at least one draft choice in the first 4 rounds (including the 5th for OL's). And yes, the team failed in that regard in 2019.
=======
POSITIONS
If the key need is at LT, unless this is a very strange year, that need is often as early as possible.
WR, OG, and OC can wait until the 3rd or 4th.

If LB, DE and/or CB are top needs then players are available in every round. The key thing for the front seven is fit. Many front 7 guys could have late 1st or 2nd or 3rd round grades for other teams and not even be on Belichick's board (as it should be)

TE's and QB's are strange. Sometimes, there is no one who fits even in the first 4 rounds.

Posted this in the draft forum, too, but here’s a twitter poll from yahoo with four options for the Pats.

Ken Murray, or perhaps a trade-down if a team wants to over-pay for Love AND Zach Baun is still available...

Baun is still available and, I don’t believe, has even been an option in any of the previous picks. Trade downs aren’t an option in his polls, but I think I’d prefer that if the draft plays out as it has.

Then it's absolutely Ken Murray for me, no questions asked.

Perry's list are always worth checking out. He's not done with his yet but has 4-5 positions down. Same names, on the same page. Interesting to follow the rest of his picks.

Honestly think my board is on point

Definitely should extend time for trades, talks etc. Maybe an extra 2-3 mins?

Mooney reminds me of Diontae Johnson a bit in terms of being undervalued. Had a 3rd on Johnson and same grade/area for Mooney/John Hightower

Put both in the slot. Move them around a bit. They'd be perfect as 3/4 WR to come in fresh and use their explosiveness/sudden quicks to work someone over.
Mooney is very quick, hard to touch off the line, out of his breaks. Tiny but legit 4.3 speed and big jumps indicate a tiny prospect with some real power flying at you.
Again think he can play inside/outside. + tracking. Can make a splash play and go up and get the ball (37" vert)
He's be a great complement to some big bodies and can add instant speed on the field.

I hate mocks. Weird being a draft geek but I just don't like them. Probably bc I've had these prospects bouncing around in my head for years. Where they'd be great, bad fits, who I would want to pair together.
Anyway I did a few focusing on the offense and tried to keep it as realistic as possible.
Which one would you prefer? Swung fpr the fences at TE. If 2/3 hit we're set for a while. OL help. Multiple WRs, again if 2/3 hit were set for a minute there. Plus some Bill type DB's.
Everyone should know Vildor, Hand, Davis, Guidry as DB's. Harrison Hand might be the best tackling CB in the draft? He's definitely up there if not the best. Definitely a prospect Bill would like.

Love your first mock draft here, not only from the players you have chosen but also the two first round picks you got from the trades for the next 2 years, that's some valuable ammo going forward!

Would love it if thats how it would play out

I love Ashtyn Davis pick - a bit forgotten and underated to me amongst other Safeties. Pundits link Delpit, McKinney with Patriots in first round but Davis or Geno Stone are my candidates to be taken later. However Davis might be long gone till 3rd round.
